I only listened to a couple of tracks a few years ago, and I felt them as being much, much, much more avant-garde than our "daily" avant-prog.
Anyway, I think we can find some tracks on their website or other LEGAL websites to check them out.

I am pretty sure it is 10, on the page it lists:
James (James R. Yeowell)
Avestin (Asaaf Vestin)
Bj-1 (Björnar Lunde)
Syzygy (Chris Gleeson)
listennow801 (Claire)
Trousepress (David Edwards)
Evolutionary Sleeper (Luke Pillman)
Tsevir Leirbag (Gabriel Rivest)
SaltyJon (Jon Hilty)
A Person (Matt)

Padraic and Apsalar/Black Velvet are no longer even nominally on the team, I don't know who you're thinking of for the other 4.

But that was the point I was making with regard to the team. I don't even remember the last time I saw most of those people post.

Even so, the retired team members were supposed to be gather @ the charts under "retired" and, even having "only" 10 people, that's still quite high.

I got into these guys thanks to this topic, so I'll try to contribute a biography. It's my first one so it probably isn't that great, but it should be a start. Sheavy can probably improve it, since the only thing I really know by these guys so far is Classic Erasmus Fusion.

Volcano the Bear were formed in 1995 in Leicester, England. Their first full length release, The Inhazer Decline, was released on Steven Stapleton's (of Nurse With Wound) label under the United Dairies Imprint. Despite this, the bands music is released on a variety of formats, from full length albums to EPS, from tapes to CDs to CD-R's the band releases themselves on their Volucan imprint. The band is rather active, until 2007 releasing at least one new album every year, and up to five in some years (many of which are limited edition).

The music is influenced by artists as diverse as Can, This Heat, and Nurse With Wound. They are given various labels (freak folk, free jazz, avant garde), but they all indicate one thing - that is, this is a band that is experimental and who exists on the fringes of existing music labels.

.. I have added a few of the easily accessible studio albums. Hope it is all correct. There are a quite a few more, many limited editions, mostly taken from live recordings, and a small number of EPs... where do we draw the line for official editions? Is 9 copies with hand painted covers a "limited edition", or is it NO EDITION at all? The 3 initial albums were about 20 copies or so. We list them... but they will not be within reach for most of us.

... according to my bookkeeping, the only studio "albums" left are

1996 vol iii . However, I couldn't find a good front cover and no track list, so far!
1998 the inhazer decline (limited edition) . see discussion above: is 9 copies enough to qualify?

... then the live recordings are:

     1997 volfur
     1998 volve
     1998 volseptor
     1999 volwheat
     2001 or 2002 volnono
     2001 or 2002 xvol
     2002 voleven
     2002, 2003 or 2004 voldozer
     2005 or 2006 catonapotato
     2006 volfurten
     2006 egg & two books
     2007 volquince
     2011 volsechzehn
     2011 hotbites at the nightlight

... and the EPs:

2001 or 2002 guess the birds
     2004 shake your crow
     2004 tunnels and wheels
2004 all the paint i can breathe
     2006 massive furniture invasion
     2006 birth of streissand
     2006 my favourite lungs
2009 that people don't know they are monsters

(and probably more...)
