Topic: Fish vs. Peter Gabriel Posted: June 08 2011 at 18:20 |
To me, Fish aka Derek Dick (Marillion and Solo) and Peter Gabriel (Genesis and Solo) have very similar vocal styles and almost similar music histories as well as songwriting abilities. My question to you guys is which one is the better vocalist. I personally go with Gabriel because, to me, he has had a more memorable solo career than Fish.

Both are great, but Gabriel is more versatile as a vocalist (and also has better solo albums).

I prefer Genesis to Marillion, and Gabriel's solo career to Fish's, but I'm going to have to say I like their vocals equally.

Can you tell me where my country lies?
Once again, my name says it all...but I can't vote.
I still like Fish alot. In fact, He may be a better lyricist than PG.

Both may be good, and both are highly regarded and enjoyed by many on this site, but really, there can only be the one, the original - PG.

I prefer Fish's solo career, but Peter Gabriel's vocals (although I like both).

Peter Gabriel does more with his voice (see for instance Selling England and The Lamb Lies Down)

Gabriel. No contest. I like Marillion, but as a singer I think Fish is a pale imitation of Gabriel and hammill, and lacks the 'soul' of either.

Love them both equally for their time in their respective bands and also for their live work, but i much prefer Fish as a solo artist so he gets my vote.

Hmmm. Quite outright result. I think my recent poll about Fish is more interesting:
