Topic: Trojan Horse Posted: June 10 2011 at 18:04 |
Trojan Horse are a prog band from Manchester who've just released their first album, Trojan Horse. They seem to be picking up quite a bit of local publicity here in the North West of England. Their Manchester accent gives the album at times a bit of an indie sound, but the music while modern is very much rooted in the progressive rock genre. Some tracks to me sound like they'd fit in cross-over, others have more of a symphonic sound while Bycycle Jam has a nice avant feel to it. Some reviews are posted on their myspace site while their album is streamed on Bandcamp. Check them out as we should have them on this site (imho). Interview with the band;

Hm. This is certainly an eclectic mix of stuff! I hear a possibility for Crossover, Eclectic, Exp/Post (slight), Psych, and a few others. Because of the rather popularly leaning melodies, I'm going to ask the Crossover team to take a look, but it may be forwarded to a number of different teams.

Thanks. One criticism that could be laid against this band (and it has been) is that they've tried to fit too many styles and influences into a single album. Crossover would probably get my vote if I had one, for the reasons you've stated.
