Hello! I'm new here to the forums but have loved prog since the '70s, when one of my brothers brought home Kansas 'Leftoverture' album.

Anyhow..... Searching the progarchives for new bands (something I do occasionally) I noticed that the Finnish band Anthriel isn't listed under the 'A' section.

If any of you are into Symphony X and prog metal bands of that ilk, give their album (debut?) 'The Pathway' a listen.

Very cool riffs and songs, maybe not as shreddy as Symphony X but very good none the less. How do new bands get added to the archives? I'd like to see this band added (and no, I don't work for/know the band).

While I tend to listen to the heavier side of prog these days, I look foward to chatting here on the progarchive forums occasionally with you all. Hopefully you guys can turn me on to some good bands :)

Here's a promo video to their album (If I can figure out how to embed)

Can any one recommend some good prog metal, or harder edged prog?

I have quite a bit in my collection already, bands like Seventh Wonder, Dream Theater, Serenity, Silent Memorial, Silent Call, Riverside, Redemption, Threshold, Symphony X, Myrath, etc etc.

Or stuff like Porcupine Tree, one of my favorites :)

Welcome to PA! In terms of reccomendations, if you haven't heard Ayreon you should definitely give the album "The Human Equation" a listen. Haken might not be straight prog metal but you'd probably enjoy them too.
