Topic: Anekdoten vs Anglagard Posted: July 07 2011 at 12:24 |
I got to know these two bands at the same time in the mid-nineties, my sister gave me hybris and vemod on cassette. I like both but anglagard is a slightly more appealing to me. What about you?

AAAA hardest question ever!!
Today, it's Anekdoten but tomorrow it can be Anglagard.

Vemod is a very appealing album. I vote for Anekdoten.

A few years ago, I was trying desperately to find the Anglagard albums, and I ended up paying a fair bit for them. Along the way, I read that Anekdoten was even better. "What?!" I thought, "No way." But after acquiring the Anekdoten catalogue as well, I can say that, while I enjoy both, I listen to Anekdoten probably ten times as much as Anglagard.

Anekdoten, to me, delivered an awesome debut album, and then got steadily worse and worse till I completely lost interest. Nucleus has 3 good songs and From Within only has one, the title track. Everything after that bores me to tears, they went from prog to soft rock. Anglagard on the other hand released 2 of progressive rock's best albums ever. period. Guess which one I voted for...

I respect Anekdoten very much, but Anglagard is an epoch itself, I think.

Anekdoten sounds more of both modern and emotional, in my opinion.

I don't think it's really fair to compare two bands, of which the other only functioned for a couple of years and the other is still going strong. Yet: Anekdoten are ok, but Änglagĺrd was amazing.
