Jeez, what is this guy's problem?? Sounds like the "new" Yes is off to a rather rough start! "Yuppets" is his term for critical fans who post dissenting reviews online. Rule No. 1 in business = don't bite the hand that feeds you. Sounds like Yes rushed this live act out too quickly, they probably should have kept Ollie (or seen what Moraz was doing lately).

I noticed he mentioned progressiveears.com as being nasty, but no mention of us at all. Serves him right. Some of us may be critical, but by and large we are fair.

He strikes me as being very arrogant. After we saw him play with Asia in Cardiff, I asked the tour manager after the show if Downes would mind having a photo taken with us and answer a couple of questions for the site. He refused.
Okay, he didn't have to say yes, but it wouldn't have cost anything to be nice.

Didn't like him the first time around with Yes, don't like him this time around. You're in a band with a massive following and a certain level of intelligence and with certain expectations about what Yes is. He sounds like a spoiled little child.

Downes turns Yes into song dodgers and would have been laughed out of the audition room in the early 70's. But generally, you leave this kind of stuff alone for too long and don't practice - you're in big trouble. Tone aside, Howe still has it, and if pushed I believe could get near as dammit to the halycon days.
Benoit - maybe he's permanently ruined his voice in the upper range, we'll see.
White - needs to go. Sad, but true. Edited by KarmaMan - July 09 2011 at 05:46 |

Very true, but when I saw him on the Drama tour he played about 3 of them! What BS. He's only a fair keyboard player. Just don't like him!

No wait, I don´t get it....
We can´t/aren´t allowed to make up our own minds about the music we buy, or....? I guess all the critics in the 70s and 80s were buttery sweet talking daffodils, who said things like beg your pardon and sugar!!!

I agree with him.

My God, someone needs to do some serious damage control on this man. If I were his manager I would delete the blog and pretend it never happened. Sure, it would be cached and people like me would mirror it, but at least it would show they realize he's a god damn idiot who needs to shut his mouth. The most recent post he says some people told him to STFU about the Yuppets, and he "apologizes", and then he says.
The man is nearly 3 times older than I am and yet I think I am more mature. The sad thing Rob is that people actually agree with him on that post, they must not understand anything about the internet.
Sure it would, he just values his time. ;-)
He probably doesn't care about us at all. :( And anyway, people here have barely talked about the new tour, I'm sure he would take offense to something we said if we cared at all.
What? You really think that is in any way a reasonable way for a for a world famous rock star to respond to random people on the internet? He's acting like a 13 year old on Myspace. Edited by Henry Plainview - July 09 2011 at 16:36 |

And oh no! Think of all the thousands that he has to pay to provide hosting fees to YesWorld!
"Hell Yes is just such an integral part of the popular culture in 2011, it basically perpetuates itself. Internet presence? Well to hell with that ! Somebody get RollingStone on the line. I want a full-page spread for the new album and tour. That'll teach those people who voluntarily post messages on a website devoted only to us and our music."

I don't see anything to suggest he is not completely, obliviously serious.
And it cost him an infinitesimal fraction of a cent to host the words GEOFF SUCKS before a moderator deleted it! That's outrageous! Edited by Henry Plainview - July 09 2011 at 16:54 |

If he made it show it was a joke, this would not be fun at all. That's the purpose of trolling, my friend, and why it is so dangerous to do it IRL. |

Most will see this and disregard it as us shredders being "a****les" and "damn internet speak" but Caio is pretty much spot on with that assessment. |

Doesn't make it incorrect though! Especially since Henry is the first to claim trolling for everything except when one of us make the claim, then "how do you know that? they seemed serious" Whatever. Some guy on the internet is making outrageous and infuriating statements? Shocker Not a****le version: cstack just roll with it. They are most likely greatly exaggerating, and even if 100% serious then whatever. Just let it go and never give them the satisfaction of responding in anyway. All of us are helping as a matter of fact by continuing with this thread Edited by JJLehto - July 09 2011 at 17:11 |
