Hi! earthtone9 have recently reformed, and it reminded me of their great output.  They started in the late 90s and have some obvious Tool influences on some songs, but are much heavier in a dirty, often brash way. They're not adverse to longer tracks, instrumentals and blending styles (not prerequisites, I know.)

I'm suggesting them for Progressive Metal on the off-chance they're a fit. Some feel these guys are simply alternative metal (and how pointless is the word 'alternative'?), but I do hear prog. However, I'm not an expert of course, and I'm suggesting the band rather than fighting tool and nail for em Wink    In regards to related projects, Karl, the singer, sings/sung for Twin Zero listed here on the archives.

This album is their most progressive I feel, though their earlier ones are too (once again, in my opinion)

arc'tan'gent

lo-def(inition) discord is probably their heaviest album, but still has prog moments I reckon.

They were rejected some months ago (see the link on the bottom). The band could, however, be re-evaluated once they release a new album with new material.

I don't suppose you have the link to where they were discussed here at PA?

I can't find them using the search function and have tried various combos. Would be interested to see the pros and cons re: earthtone9 as teh team sees it.

I'd interested to hear the new EP - came out in May I think, though I imagine it will be less metal so the may no longer fit prog metal. Or prog for that matter

Quite frankly I have no idea either. They were on queue since 2008 and I don't know from where the band came from.

They were rejected before the release of their EP, sure, but the actual rule of re-evaluating bands is using new full-length albums. There could be exceptions, such as using an unusually big EP, for example, which isn't the case.

But I'll advise you to keep an eye on those guys. I feel like they are up to something interesting in a near future andif they do release something, please report here and the band will be re-evaluated accordingly. Big smile

Thanks for the help. Thumbs Up

Cool! I will keep an eye out. In fact, will investigate where I can order it from right now.

Yeah, I was especially interested in the process because I thought it'd help me suggest a band in the future that had a shot at getting in hahahaha.

I'll be back in a few weeks when I've got the EP, thanks again!

Got the new earthtone9 ep and it's heavier than their last album, but still has that 'clean chorus' approach, and probably still falls into the 'alt metal' genre - (though I find the label alternative quite useless) and thus their progressiveness, as I see it, still rests upon older albums.

A shame really, but on the plus side, really quite great to have one of my old favs recording again!

(not sure about the filmclip but Wink )

New fan funded earthtone9 album is in the works - they've hit their fuinding target and will record soon. I'll post a sample on the off chance that the new album is proggier than previous work.

If they continue in the direction of that song, they've no chance on PA.
