Both of these canterbury bands aren't from England. Moving Gelatine Plates are french and Supersister are dutch...
They both also released their debut albums in the early 70s...
Who do you like more?

Hm... love them both. But MGP's two first are probably stronger (flawless, actually) than any album Supersister ever released.

The Plates are brilliant, but Supersister is one of my favorites.

no vote.
I'm not proud of this but I have to admit that both these bands are unfamiliar to me ... so there is more to explore. |

No vote. I don't know Moving Gelatine Plates: just read the nam once or twice; I thougt it was a post-rock band
To the Highest Bidder is in my top 5 of Dutch prog albums.

Supersister have been a long time favorite, but during the last year or so, I´ve been getting more into the French scene and MGP are definitely a strong Canterbury band
Not really fair, since I´ve had Supersister playing on my stereo quite frequently for a couple of years now, but since they are behind - they are definitely getting a vote from me. Gotta love the weirdness of Spiral Staircase, which I don´t see as a Zappa clone - and I am a big Zappa fan.

I don't know enough MGP to vote yet, only heard a sample or two here and there.

Neither of these bands did I like that much when I first heard them (especially MGP which I was quite critical of, but then when I listened again I had a very different experience with the music as sometimes happens with me), but grew to like both very much. It's close for me, but Moving Gelatine Plates.
I nspired by this, I am tempted to do a Cos vs. Picchio dal Pozzo poll as those are my two traditional non-English Canterbury favourites. And, while PdP was a long time staple, I recently returned to Cos, and have grown extremely enamored with it. I hope you don't mind if I do that poll. |

I only have Present From Nancy and To The Highe$t Bidder from Supersister. Two excellent albums. Haven't heard of MGP. I'll be checking them out.

Moving Gelatine Plates
What I've heard from Supersister is average at best to my ears.

I like both a lot, but I could live without Supersister's vocals in some of their songs.
Gotta go with Moving Gelatine Plates....
