These are my two particular favourites of the non-English Canterbury scene. I was inspired to do this by the recent Supersister vs. Moving Gelatine Plates poll. PdP is Italian and Cos is Belgian. I might have done Pazop (like Cos it is from Belgium) but I don't have the album available and haven't heard it in a long time.
Rather than just voting for favourite band, please vote for a band with an album you are, or have been if none of these nake you current rotations, really enamored with.
I have all of the PdP albums, but only Cos' first two albums, I want to get Babel. I particulrly love PdP's self-titled and Abbiamo..., and like Cos first two very much. Recently I've returned to Viva Boma after not listening for a couple of years or so, and have been really into it, so Cos will get my vote for that album at this time. Abbiamo Tutti I Suoi Problemi
Tough call, number of good albums here, but have always enjoyed this one in particular. |

Great album, and I was particularly obsessed with "Mettiamo Il Caso" for a long time. At one time that was my particular fave album and piece of PdP (like how it reprises music from the debut), but PdP's debut has definitely got the most play from me of any of the albums in the list, and is the one I'm more likely to return to of PdP's.... I haven't heard any full Cos albums yet, so I can't vote.

So hard to pick but i have to go with COS for the fuzzed out farfisa organ and Zeuhlish flavour that pops up at times. Then the cherry on top : Pascale Son !

Cos's Viva Boma is the album that got me interested in the Canterbury scene. I love the way the album is able to merge a very groovin jazzy style with more avant elements, and a certain dark mysterious moodiness.
I voted for Cos. I also have a musical crush on Pascale Son. She has such a wonderful voice. |

I chickened out on this one, I really like both of these artists. PdPīs debut and Babel are both albums I listen to A LOT. Great music to put on, if youīre feeling blue or tired. These albums will send a hot pepper up your backside and get you started like that Tony the Tiger from Frosties.

I really like the self-titled PdP album. I have yet to check out Cos other than a few songs.

Listening to the debut by Cos now. Itīs been a while, and I had almost forgotten what a great and original album it is. Pascal Son reminds me a bit of the singer in Catapilla. If you like Cos Logan, be sure to check out Catapilla - Changes from 72.

Thanks, I'd only heard Catapilla's debut. Will try to get it soon. off-topic note cause I won't be posting for awhile in case it seems I'm ignoring any posts over the next days. Tomorrow I'm, hopefully, having re-adjustment to one of my eyes with laser surgery, and won't be able to use the computer for a while. At least I probably will have it if I'm not too sore . A car veered into my lane going fast and hit me head-on . I have whiplash and so I am feeling very sore, and I was told that it will be worse by tomorrow. Good thing my four year old son was okay other than minor abrasions from the seatbelt. |

PdP as a band for sure. Really all if their albums are excellent, but the one that stands out for sure is Abbiamo Tutti I Suoi Problemi...the best non-RIO RIO album out there. Honestly, other than something by Henry Cow I would recommend this album for someone wanting to get into RIO. And that last track...that guitar makes my face contort in the best of ways. Magic.

Eek! That does indeed sound horrible. Glad it wasn't worse and feel better soon. (And G'luck with that surgery)

I also chose COS, but you'd better stay away from Swiss Chalet >> it sucks sh*t deeply (the only one never reissued on CD).
But it's quite hard to choose (never heard the PdP Valdapozzo album)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
BTW, for those who wonder that orange/red & yellow Postallean Train Robbery artwork is of the original vinyl release
The grey picture is that of Musea's CD release

^Ahh - now it makes sense. That is a real bummer though, as I tend to like that colorful artwork a lot more Give me some colors that reflects the feel of the album thank you! That grey one doesnīt really fit the music IMO.

Thanks. Other than my neck, particularly, being sore, and feeling a bit nauseus, I'm feeling quite okay. My eye surgery today is LASIK enhancement since one of my eyes regressed, and not, in case some people think so, accident related. The accident was on a four-lane street that is near a school, and by a crosswalk. I was going to pick my daughter who is seven up, and I'm thankful she plowed into my van, and not, for example, some kids crossing the road. There weren't any kids crossing the road at the time, but still....
