Just had to post my satisfaction with the current situation with the Lions. With the signings of Stephen Tulloch and Justin Durant at LB, the Lions now have a particularly nasty front 7 (on paper, at least, one of the top five or ten in the league) and I am looking forward to untold carnage and destruction in the upcoming season.
I think this year the NFC North will live up to its billing as the "Black and Blue Division".
In other news, I am sure Eagles fans are pleased with their team's FA signings, and are Patriot fans at all worried that the addition of Haynesworth and Ochocinco has made the Pats a three-ring circus?

Eagles fans are very happy indeed.
I feel like Haynesworth can work out, I think the Ochocinco signing was a waste of time. |

Just like the two sides threatening to shut down the US government...the lockout was all BS and show.
Glad that waste is over, and things have been pretty exciting with every free agent available and being moved in a short period! As a Giants fan, is of course very upsetting that Nnamdi went to the Eagles. One of the top 2 corners (if not #1) in the league. Was hoping he'd land on the Jets, imagine him and Revis together! 85 was stupid, talk about the most anti-patriot guy there is. But he is an aging decent vet, and if anyone can whip him into shape it's that cheating bum a****le Belichick. Haynesworth failed his physical? What a surprise! IF he gets himself under 400 pounds he can be a forceful player. Havn't heard much of the Giants, as always. Just that Bradshaw is being looked at, and I hope to god they keep him...that loss would be crippling. Osi is pissed because even though he's moving along with his contract apparently he's not making the money promised him... If he went, at least there is JPP who proved to be a good pass rusher. They did draft Prince Amukamara, who should be a great corner and some more beastliness for their D-line. Just hoping their O-line stays strong, it's getting thin and weak and they've added nothing..their current players better step up. |

Wow Eagles are going buck wild. I'm so pumped for football.
I was kind of hoping that the Eagles got Tulloch, not that I can complain about anything the Eagles did really. Lions look kind of exciting going into this season. If Stafford can stay healthy this could be a fun division. Pats have so many draft picks that giving up those low rounders means little. It's a great investment where they're on the hook for pretty much no money. They've revived receivers before so maybe Ocho will find some success. I don't see it. Haynesworth I think will be dominant again.

I know, I am more geeked than I have been for years. I am chugging the electric kool-aid as we speak!
Yes, the "Stafford factor" weighs heavily upon the Lions' success. But for now, I have rose-colored glasses on. If anything, the Lions will be taking out plenty of QBs this year. And congrats to your Eagles. They have done a great job with the cap.
Personally, I am scratching my head at some of the decisions the Vikes and Bears made. Roy Williams united again with Mike Martz? Woo-hoo! That guarantees at least a split with the Lions this year, and it may be worse now that the Bears cut Olin Kreutz, who was the heart of their O-line. The Vikes with McNabb may be better than the Vikes with Tavares Jackson, but if he plays like he did last year, it's another last place finish for the Vikes. Yeah, the Lions had a decent year (even their losses were fights) so IF Stafford can indeed remain healthy that can be one hell of an offense. Also, they added another stud D tackle to the line.
Mah boi Suh really was something else, imagine with even more help. Like I said, if anyone can bring Chad back it'd be the Patriots though it may be more difficult than usual since I can't think of a more wrong player for them personality wise. The Vikings always have that strong defense and running game, and now some more fire on offense. Their complete and utter lack of a QB has been the missing piece. The Redskins were total sh*t, Vikes are a better team McNabb could see success there I have no doubt. Not saying he was his old self but how anyone gave McNabb flak boggled my mind, there are not many teams that have less than the Skins ![]() Despite what most would think, I am excited for the Giants season. Their offense had the ability to pass like an aerial strike, and can always run at will. They just really need to get on the same page and disciplined. If so that offense can be amazing. Added some more on defense so I'm not too worried there. Oh! Also, forgot the Falcons added Julio Jones so that should fun to deal with Edited by JJLehto - July 31 2011 at 21:56 |

Yes, but if the results are as horrifying as it seems that's what matters in the end.
Can't be worse than the Cards giving up so much for an unproven QB. Now I always felt bad for Kolb and he could be good assuming he gets to play consistently, but quite a risk for someone you just don't know what you're getting! Giants re-sign Ahmad Bradshaw, which they pretty much had to. Osi is up for trade, drafting JPP looks good now, even if Osi is cut loose they can have their 3 good pass rushers. Though it seems unlikely to happen. Giants are pretty sane and logical, so you'd think they would want something big for Osi and send him to a team not too likely to burn em. |

Ravens lost some good ones in Mason,Kelly Gregg,Todd Heap and Willis Mcgahee.True,Mason is a bit older but still a viable WR,Heap gets bitten by the injury bug too much and Mcgahee's role was greatly reduced by the emergence of Ray Rice.Kelly Gregg was the worst loss imho, but I think Terence "Mount" Cody will fill in nicely.

Giants loosing Osi makes them thin which is not good when the depth was their real strength. I'll admit JPP played much better than I antiicipated last season, but how good will he be without Cofield and Osi there? AZ probably overpaid, but it was a thin QB market so their hands were kind of tied.

Well yeah losing Osi can't be good but they will still have their 3 pass rushers...thinking about it the JPP move makes sense now. Osi has been getting kind of...what's the word? Bitchy, as of late, they probably knew he'd want to bail/they would not want to pay him and have started grooming his replacement. As you said, losing Cofield hurts me more, real unheralded DT.
I'm a bit peeved they still have not addressed LB. I know it's all about the line (and secondary) but they still have the same crap at linebacker. Maybe, but just pointing the Cards did give up a lot for someone who is no guarantee. They coulda grabbed McNabb. Though after the crap he's gotten I'd like to see Kolb do well. |

McNabb was atrocious last year and gives you no hope of being a long term solutions.
Eagles have been ignoring the linebacker position for years so I understand your pain there.

Yes, but it at least gives the Vikings a tackling dummy to throw out there until Christian Ponder gets up to speed (and I'm not sure Ponder is the answer either). The NFC North is particularly hard on QBs, what with Suh, Julius Peppers, Jared Allen, B.J. Raji and such. Cutler was a human pinball last year, Stafford got knocked out early and Aaron Rodgers had a concussion.

The local media is really trying to hype up the Lions' chances this year. Personally, I'll be surprised if they exceed 7 and 9 or 8 and 8. After so many years of disappointment I am taking the wait and see approach here, but I am perfectly happy to jump on the bandwagon when the time is right. Did you see where Stafford "guaranteed" that he wouldn't get hurt and would be playing the entire season this year? I LOL'ed.

Also, did you see where Joey Harrington relived his days as a Lion? He was blindsided by a car while he was riding his bike and apparently didn't see it coming until it hit him.

He's not a bad fit for the Vikings. I was talking about the Cards trying to pretend that he was a viable option for them. |

Eagles keep amazing. They sign Ronnie Brown to a 1 year $1 million contract. Great signing. I've always loved him. He's a perfect fit for Reid's offense.

We just cut pro-bowler Bryan McKinney for showing up overweight. That's right, the guy just ate himself out of a 6 million dollar gig.
Pat, you think this Christian Ponder is for real in a couple years? And this year, is McNabb likely to be anymore effective than Favre was? |
