Recently discovered both bands and I've been enjoying them a lot. Both have high rated albums here in the archives and both names begins with "AN" (not important at all LOL)

So which do you prefer?
I look up, I'm almost blinded
by the warmth of what's inside me
and the taste that's in my soul,
but I'm dead inside as I stand alone...

Anathema!

I don't like Anathema. IMO it's a sad band.

Anathema.

Anekdoten are far from essential.

Anathema were one of the main shape-formers of modern prog/post-progressive, and they did a lot of truly masterpieceful albums. 'Distant Satellites' showed how heartfelt and magnificent can they be also in electronic music.

As for Anekdoten... I love King Crimson's Red for too much to appreciate its pale copy.
This night wounds time.

Anathema

A hand held over a candle in angst fuelled bravado. A carbon trail scores a moist stretched palm. Trapped in the indecision of another fine menu. This is the story so far.

I love Anathema (all era's) but I don't know Anekdoten at all (another big hole in my collection) so I can't vote.
