Soup: Children Of E.L.B. (2010).
Excellent music between post-rock, alternative rock and progressive rock.

I'm having a hard time pinpointing a subgenre they might fit under, it's not quite crossover or metal, nor is it really post rock. Best I can think of is Heavy Prog, so I'll alert the team. Smile

they are gazing at their shoes so by that litle detail i will call them Shoegaze nothing wrong with that i like Shoegaze, i got some Mew feel from it, and that is nice. spessially when the climaxes reach its most intence, nice music, and im sure i have heard and seen them before without remembering it, Embarrassed.

Wow!  Very nice mix of space rock and post rock, with some "dance floor" drums as well.

I have seen them decribed as a Lyrical / Vocal post-rock band from Trondheim, Norway. They are currently signed to How is Annie Records - they recorded an  album called "Come On Pioneers" in 2008 as well as "Children Of E.L.B." in 2010.

The band has, to date, largely been a one-man project by Erlend Viken, who has written all songs and performs all instruments. Soup’s live performances include Erlend Viken on the keyboard/synthesizer, Sverre Leraand on drums, Rune Leraand on the bass and Řrjan Lunde on guitar.

From the How is Annie website: http://jaguar.intrapoint.no/rw/site/bordhockey/index.php?c=85&kat=children+of+elb, "Expanding his one man operation into a quartet, front man Erlend Viken leads his troops into epic landscapes on soup's second album, “Children of E.L.B”. Dreamy songs that build and ultimately explode in cascades of guitars and electronica, this is Postal Service, Godspeed you! black emperor, Mercury Rev, Sigur Rós and Sufjan Stevens all in one beautiful bowl".

The latest album is a 2-disc 80-minute monster

It seems from progfreak (http://progfreak.com/Soup-148135.html?path=pa/recent) that the band were evaluated and rejected once by the crossover team, but that it is being evaluated by them again. Perhaps because they discovered the original album?

Good band - deserves a place on here.

I think Soup could fit in the post-rock section. Wink

Believe me, we all are.
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Just discovered them... Wonderful noise! The Children of E.l.b and The Beauty of Our Youth are both excellent albums.
