While at brunch today, I noticed a family who came into the restaurant....the daughter, perhaps 14, was wearing a black long-sleeved tee-shirt with the LTIA emblem emblazoned across the front!!

I wanted to ask her if she really knew about King Crimson, but decided that her father would probably beat me to death. Or my wife.

Basically like this one....needless to say, it was quite unexpected to see in that context!!  This logo is forty years old!!

^ That "wish you were here" moment. You probably couldn't believe your eyes. You could pull on your shirt and give a nod of approval.

... No, that would probably be creepy.

That symbol didn't originate with King Crimson.....did her shirt say King Crimson,
or was it just the symbol?   If it was just the symbol I think it could have had
a different source.

I think KC even took the line drawing of the exact facial expressions for this symbol.

You should have asked her dad first. He might have been the one who turned her on to Crimso.

I heard an old Genesis cut in Whole Foods a week or so ago--  Battle of Epping or something like that, pretty cool.

It did say "King Crimson" on it.  Mind you, I didn't want to stare at the young lass!   However, I did notice that much.

Maybe she pilfered it out of dad's drawer?

The shirt looked so good, I may have to get a black one to go with my collection!!

When I was back in secondary-school (more precisely, during 1986 - grade 9) - for Geography we were studying the cause and effects of erosion along the coastlines - now this may be some BBC thing, but we watched a doco on this subject , and on a scene where the waves were crashing into a craggy cliff there was this music behind it - some wailing guitar chords and a mellow feel.  Now, I said to myself, "this music sounds like Pink Floyd" - upon reading the end credits, sure enough.......
I was only familiar with Dark Side, The Wall and WYWH at that stage.  I think it was the instrumental Gilmour section of 'Dogs', just before the 'and when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown'.........
I'll never forget that moment in class.

Guy pulled up his car next to me at WAWA (a PA & NJ convenience store) with his windows down & RUSH's "Twilight Zone" was playing. Talk about a deep cut!
Cheers,

His daughter has prog taste too. I saw a poster of Nattens Madrigal by Ulver on her bedroom wall!
(episode 3, season 1)

Imagine a girl like that listening to Norwegian black metal.

^ I remember a few years ago one of the local classic rock stations was playing all of side one. Everyone in the car just kept his mouth shut. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

LOLIt did give me a bit of a rush hearing Sylvia there and I think it may have caused me to buy things. Tongue

Great story! 'Sylvia' is a great tune.
