Topic: Psychedelic Gems Fightnight pt. ll Posted: August 29 2011 at 10:28
This is the sequel to the psych poll I did here the other day. I got thinking about several gems I´d forgot to list - so why not make another?
Same as the last: There´s featured a lot of different approaches to psych music here and a lot of bands that couldn´t be further from each other soundwise - and even though some are labelled as Electronic or Eclectic - I still find them to be slightly psych.
What´s your personal pick?

I must admit I haven't listened to all these albums, but I do know that Pearls Before Swine is one of the best groups ever. Balaklava is a brilliant record.
Saperlipoppete!: I´m glad something is tickling your fancy. Satori is wonderful like psychedelic buffalo stampede.
Ghost of Murphy: I purposely left out proto-prog. I love H.P. Lovecraft and Vanilla Fudge - as long as the latter stops singing from time to time... The Fudge can get on my nerves with those very theatrical vocals. AAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!
Great to see Parallel World and UFO getting votes

^That one nearly never gets any attention. Maybe it´s because it sounds like an instrumental Krautrock album - and maybe that is why I love it so Metanoia, Sky moves sideways, Up the downstair and Coma divine are my faves from PT.

I´m going patriotic today and voting for Alrune Rod´s Hej Du. The Danish-psychedelic- and slightly more bluesy version of Il Balletto di Bronzo´s Ys´. I kid you not!
Julian Cope also seems to be mad about this record, and I understand him perfectly. Probably my all-time fave psychedelic album from my home country.

I´ve listened to the damn thing 12 times the past two days on my phone, and it just about blew me sideways, what an album!! Inspired me so much that I actually pulled myself together - just long enough to write a review. I must be coming down with something... Do yourself a favor and listen to this weird monster!

I can´t choose really, but in terms of creativity and breaking new ground, I think the debut takes the cake. Sometimes I feel the follow up much better though

Hehe - seems like I´m talking to myself lately, but I find it hard to believe - that nobody in this poll has mentioned Grobschnitt´s Solar Music Live... I went into this thinking it would be a landslide victory for those Germans - just goes to show what I know
