Topic: In the Wake of Poseidon vs Fragile Posted: September 07 2011 at 04:49 |
My two first classic prog albums i bought, (as I remember right) so they are spessial to me for that
both floured me, thats why i don't bash it as i heard it before In Court, yet i see the similaritys, but i also enjoy the progressions (yet small) that have take place between both albums, Picture is a litle more elaborate then Schizoid man (controversial yes but in my ears that is the case but i love both songs), and title track is a cross between Epitaph and the Court of the Crimson king, yet more elaborated mellotron
Fragile is also a strong album and one of the starting package albums for progers since it is not so difficult to get into and the good songs are extremly good, and the lesser songs are quite good as well, with some tea brakes where the individuals can show of their licks, with the most progressive hit single as the introduction Roundabout, one of the few pure prog rock songs that manage also to be funky and catchy.
but also both albums are polerising so this poll can be interesting to say the least...

My fave KC album. It's like a better version of the debut album

In The Wake Of Poseidon is absolutely one of King Crimson's finest work. But, Fragile was my first album and it still has a special place in my heart. So Fragile gets my vote ...

Reckon Heart of the sunrise gets a bit repetitive. That's probably the reason I chose Poseidon

Both have exactly four good songs and five "meh" songs.
But I listen to Fragile every Christmas and get a massive nostalgia trip. Poseidon sounds dated in the wrong kind of way.

Fragile. Wake is good, but I don't listen to it much anymore. I still listen to Fragile.

Fragile, albeit with less difference than I would expect.

King Crimson's Poseidon for me. Really can't like a thing about the Yes sound and Fragile seems to suffer hugely from pointless compositions.

I got to say Fragile, I listen to it more often, even tough I love the sinister mellotron sound of In the wake of Poseidon!

KC over Yes in general for me. But if you had chosen CTTE instead of Fragile, I would have gone with Yes

Poseidon. Probably because I like KC considerably more than Yes.
I'm aware of its reputation of being a copy of the debut, but I don't agree (at all) and love the whole album.
