I was originally intending to do a top 20 list, but it became a top 50 list instead. I thought there were a top 20 thread somewhere, but I couldn't find a single top Camel tracks thread! At last it's ready (I think) after comparing each song with each song, moving them up and down in the list....
I list the albums because it gives a better orientation, you can check out how songs from a particular album are "ranked" and you can quickly see which albums are not included, or less represented, or well represented. You can use ctrl+f to search for "mirage" (or anything) and jump between places in the list.
Íf you feel like going through the trouble you can post your own list! Or if rather doing a top 20 or top 10 list, maybe it's better to have a separate topic for that.
In order (!)
01. Nimrodel / The Procession / The White Rider (9:18) Mirage (1974) 02. Elke (4:29) Rain Dances (1977) 03. Echoes (7:20) Breathless (1979) 04. Earthrise (6:41) Mirage (1974) 05. I couldn't even muster my 50 favorite Queensryche songs and they're one of my top ten favorite groups, let alone a band I never really cared for like Camel.

Haha, yeah actually the list continues to 70, and Aristillus was gradually moved down and ended up at place 62 ......
"Another Night" is not a very good track to me though...
I'm sure that the list includes som unexpected inclusions and exclusions...

It is, but as I started , it grew into a big project and I couldnt stop it. I couldnt do a top 20 , there was too many good songs that was competing , I assembled them and made a list and it turned out to be a top 50 list. Edited by wilmon91 - September 07 2011 at 18:12 |

Good project, and 50 songs is not over the top at all. As years go by, I start to appreciate Camel more and more.
I'm quite busy these days, but if I can find the time, I might come up with a top 50 myself. |

Notice the track lengths ... If you put them together, maybe it won't even exceed the length of "Close to the Edge".
All these short songs is another reason for doing a long list.
It's great to play all these songs in shuffle mode. You realize how varied the songs are, such an abundance of original melodies, harmonies, great solos, rhythms and tempos.
With Camel the listening and re-revaluating of songs has mostly led me to appreciate the songs more. Camel only gets better with repeated listens, very rarely it turns out that "this song isn't that good after all"...
144 original, official songs I believe.

Title cut from "Stationary Traveller" is a wonderful song - especially this live version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKBwku-PsPY
