For those interested, Katatonia are playing some headlining gigs in-between their shows supporting Opeth. These performances will supposedly consist of two sets: one where Katatonia plays the entity of 2001’s Last Fair Deal Gone Down, and another exploring the rest of their discography. For more information, check out their website. I know Katatonia aren’t a prog band, but I feel their supplemental shows are still worth mentioning. Anyway, I saw some of Opeth’s setlists from previous shows on the Heritage tour. “Throat of Winter” must sound amazing live. However, I hope the no-growling thing is temporary. It would be a shame if songs like “Night and the Silent Water” or “Blackwater Park” were never played live again. |

 I'd love to see them, but I probably wouldn't drive 4 hours to hear no songs from Still Life or Blackwater Park. They'd probably play Benighted though. Did they officially say that there won't be any growls?

Is Opeth really done with death metal? I totally understand that they would release an album with a different style for a change, but this interview sounds like Mike is done with them for good.

I'll be seeing them on the last night of the European-tour in Oslo. The previous three Opeth-gigs I've been to (Oslo 2005 and twice 2009) have all kicked ass.
Even if the setlists of the current tour reveal that they've ditched every growl-song, they are still playing some darn incredible songs!
