Hi guys, iīd like to suggest the band Despite Behaviour from France to be added on this page. they produced only one album with 24 min length so far but their sound is great i think!

has there to be a signing with a label to be added here? because these guys are self produced i think...

free download from their debut on their offivial page: http://www.despite-behavior.com/ep/

im looking forward to your review :)

edit: oh sorry, i just read, that they have to be signed... you can listen to it anyways if you want ;) i find them really decent

Interesting stuff! Do you know any other samples the band may have posted? Three 30 second samples from here aren't very conclusive, although from what I can hear it sounds like nice prog metal.
However, if it does precipitate into a prog metal case, the PMT isn't evaluating bands with only an EP out unless the music is incredibly progressive.

Cool stuff, thanks. I'll alert the PMT, but like I said, they may not evaluate them simply because they don't have enough material released.

The band don't seem to have added any content to facebook: http://fr-fr.facebook.com/pages/Despite-Behavior/201178619346 since July 2010, or to myspace: http://www.myspace.com/despitebehavior since November 2010. However there are three live videos of them performing the whole of the "Dementia In Three Acts" EP on YouTube:

You can also visit the soundclick.com website at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=924472 and you should find full studio versions of the same three songs which can all be streamed, along with three other songs that the band seem to have placed on there (namely "New Song", "The Reason" & "Infinite Tandjent"). There is also a link on that page to a "music page": http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=924472&content=music where you can do various other things with the songs besides playing them (such as rating them or adding them to a station).

The band website's discography page: http://www.despite-behavior.com/Site/discographie.html suggests that they may have intended there to be another 16-minute four-part composition on this EP called "Face 2: Fourth", which sadly I have not been able to find samples of yet, so all in all they DO appear to have a sufficient back-catalogue of material to be evaluated, and judging by the quality of the material which I HAVE heard, they should have no problem at all being added. Great shame they no longer appear to be active - they could have turned themselves into quite some act based on these initial efforts.

Edit: The studio samples of the three parts of Dementia on soundclick aren't quite full versions, despite the links on the webpage saying "full" - they all cut off at about 5 min 30 secs...you still get a fair proportion of them though I suppose.

And now some useless information, just for the hell of it. The guy behind Despite Behavior (Steeves Austin) is in fact an active member of progarchives.com. His username is hostin: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=27397. He introduced his EP in the unsigned bands forum on 1st January 2010. http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=63993 He made two posts on that day, but has not been seen on here again since the 10th of that month! The reaction to his music was quite positive back then too, it seems. The band were also "mentioned in dispatches" on 27th of March that year - Rivertree used the EP title as a response to Gentle Giant's "Three Friends" on page 76 of Album Game IV: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=62456&PN=76. You might normally be able to get hold of full mp3 samples of all this fellow's music via pm, but since he hasn't been to the forums in almost 20 months, it might be a while before he picked up the message...  Ermm

^  It is us who should really be thanking YOU for raising the topic in the first place! If you had not done so we may never have gotten to hear this fine music at all! These progarchives threads tend to feature quite prominently in google searches for key words and phrases in the topic title a few days after they are placed on line, so what I WOULD suggest is that you edit the topic title to remove the 'u' from the word 'behaviour'. Maybe Steeves, or someone who knows him, will stumble upon the topic that way, realise that they are being evaluated (or might even have been approved for addition by then) and he may get in touch again. The google search may well throw out the thread even with the slight difference in spelling, but anything to improve the chances of this happening has to be worth considering, I feel.

Thanks for doing this. It's a very minor matter, I know - but I have a feeling that Steeves will be as pleased as punch if he finds the thread and realises that his music may be about to get the recognition it so richly deserves. Maybe it will help rekindle the enthusiasm he obviously had when he originally made these recordings, and bring him back onto the scene to perhaps take things further. It's a shame that the original post he made only received three replies. I would have expected more people to have downloaded his stuff and commented on it after he so kindly made it available free. Perhaps the fact that this didn't happen was a significant factor in his apparent early 'retirement' after just one EP? Success often has a lot do do with 'fate' - and doing the right thing in the right place at the right time to enable your stuff to get noticed. Of course you have absolutely no control over this whatsoever, but the more stuff you can get out there, and the more places you can find to show it off, the more chance you've got. This guy certainly has the talent - he just needs that bit of luck imho.

OH MY GOSH !!!

I'm so close to be crying !
Just discovered that thread ... I didn't even know that some people were looking after my work with Despite.
So guys, let me first thank you all for being so supportive.
I do what I do thanks to people like you.

So for the news, unfortunately the project is over. we had so many things to do in our personnal and professional life that the band splited. we are all still good friends by the way :)
But, I never stopped composing, writing music, being creative.
and it leaded me to A-SynC, a new project a bit more ... well ... modern ?
you can check it out here : http://www.a-sync.org

I released an instrumental EP called cloud, I hope you'll enjoy it :)

And on top of this I joined the band "Beyond The Dust" which is a death progressive band (what they call Djent).
you can check it out here : http://www.beyond-the-dust.com

anyways, if you wan't to ear a lot of the ideas that I had for despite and also what I'm doing at the moment, you can follow me on my soundcloud page (Aspect Part 1 is in it and you can of course download it for free)

http://soundcloud.com/asyncmusic

Don't hesitate to come and catch me on facebook as well : steeves.hostin

Thanks a lot for your love guys

Steeves - you certainly haven't lost your touch over the last 12 months! The instrumental track 'Clouds' that you released as A-SynC is a quite superb piece of Prog Metal - only 17 minutes of music, which is a hell of a length for a track, but I'm not sure if it's enough as an EP for the guys in Prog Metal to evaluate A-SynC for inclusion in the archives.

Whatever the case, I strongly recommend anyone who digs Prog Metal to go to http://a-sync.bandcamp.com/ or http://soundcloud.com/asyncmusic and enjoy the hell out of this!! - Great Stuff indeed!!! Thumbs Up

To be honest, with all the other great stuff that's available on soundcloud I see no reason at all why you can't be added to the archives as yourself - Steeves Austin - with A-SynC included. Someone of higher authority than me will have to say 'yay' or 'nay' on that score however.

Beyond The Dust's EP 'New Dawn' also sounds like fine Prog/Death Metal, but incredibly the band were rejected 2 years ago according to progfreak: http://progfreak.com/Beyond-The-Dust-133723.html?path=pa/recent. I'm not sure what material was used for this evaluation however, since according to bandcamp (http://www.beyond-the-dust.com/album/new-dawn, where you can listen/download the EP and also a new track called 'Reality Deformed') 'New Dawn' wasn't released until February 2011.  Ermm

Andy will know more, even though this evaluation was carried out before he was part of the team, so let's wait for his comments regarding what happened here. Smile

Sounding as good as ever, if not better! Approve  Cool Just one rating of the original album so far: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=35067.

I don't write reviews myself, but let's hope the re-awakening of this thread will galvanize one or two of our Prog Reviewers into getting their pencils sharpened up!  Embarrassed
