Well he did write Boris Godunov which was later made into an opera by Mussorgsky. However Boris Godunov and the other characters in the play/opera are not fictional, as far as I am aware.

As far as I can see, so far you’ve guessed Tolstoy and Pushkin, and it’s none of them. Another hint: The character is not from a play.
