Iconoclast wasnt that good. But A Dramatic Turn of Events was amazing so it got my vote. I heard most of Road Salt 2 and it was also impressive but just not as great as DT.

I can't vote Cry

I haven't heard the POS, and out of DT and SX I think I'll give DT the edge for the new album.

Iconoclast not that good?!? It's a great album in it's own right.......just not as good as Paradise Lost/The Odyssey/V

Symphony X without a doubt even if Iconoclast is not in the vein of their older material. PoS lost me with their Road Salt albums but I love the 4 first albums

DT wins by a long shot. The new Symphony X was alright. The title track was classic SX, and the ballad was good. The rest was solid thrash metal from a symphonic prog metal band, so it was cool, but thrash has been done to death.

Havent heard the PoS album yet, but I like most of DT/SX's material more than PoS

ADTOE is a masterpiece front to back. Iconoclast is pretty good but it gets a bit samey after a while. RS2 has a few good songs but I probably wouldn't listen to it again.

I really wasn't impressed by ADTOE.  Iconoclast is pretty good, though.

Iconoclast, followed by Road Salt Two, and miles behind A Dramatic Turn of Events.

I haven't heard Road Salt Two, but if it's anything like the first it really can't compete with these two.

A Dramatic Turn of Events is certainly more progressive, but Iconoclast has stellar production.
The ratio of great tracks to filler is pretty similar.
Any claims of Iconoclast being too 'samey' are just as applicable for ADTOE.

Overall I think Iconoclast edges by an inch, but only because it's one of Symphony X's very best albums, whereas ADTOE only just makes Dream Theater's top five.

I havnt heard RS2 yet, so I'll wait for that to come out first before I vote, but I prefer Iconoclast of the other two.

As many prog-metal giants planned to release their new albums this year, I wondered, who would win this competition - who would make the best album? "contestants" were: Dream Theater, Symphony X, Opeth, Rhapsody (Of Fire), Pain Of Salvation.

In my opinion, Symphony X is clear and definite winner - they made a five-star masterpiece!

Opeth and Rhapsody also made quite good records. I'm a bit dissapointed by Dream Theater. And I have to yet listen well to Pain Of Salvation.

Iconoclast was masterful, if not exactly prog. ADTOE is great, but has some weak moments. Pain of Salvation? Na.

Symphony X it is...

I wouldnt remotely call Rhapsody a prog-metal giant, Mastodon make a bigger claim to that.

POS sounds interesting. It might get more votes, 'cause it just was released last week, it's not a fair competition !!
