I'll probably be listening to a lot of gnarly contemporary classical, AFI's All Hallow's EP, some Kayo Dot, and maybe even some Danzig. That's only for Halloween though. For the majority of autumn I listen to really depressing folk music because the beautiful leaves and brisk weather somehow make me more melancholic.

Ok, it might not be prog, but Helloween's 'Keeper Of The Seven Keys pt.1' album pretty much kick-started the European power metal movement. And in turn they, and other power metal bands have had a big influence on prog metal, fwiw.

So I'll be listening to Helloween -'Halloween'

It would be interesting to make a mix CD-R of different prog songs that would be suitable as Halloween music. It could have songs like Can's "Augmn" and Tangerine Dream's "Nebulous Dawn" as well as Univers Zero's "La Faulx" and others. This isn't prog but this song kicks ass...

No, but recently (during the last 10 years or so) there´s been giant parties associated with it - and children celebrating (probably because it gives them a reason to dress up) in various schools, kindergardens and so forth. No holiday though..

We have something called Fastelavn in Denmark that resembles Halloween a bit. We just use wooden bats and beat the crap out of kittens who are locked inside a suspended barrel whilst dressed up as Zorro. - Just kidding, but in the old days this was how it was done. maybe some Opeth or death metal or some Tom Waits like music is mostly the best Halloween music

Death metal or baroque/vaudeville rock ala Tom Waits, Procol Harum, and those kind of bands with strong dark and almoust gothic themes, Home by Procol Harum and Broken Barriceds are the best Halloween albums made...
