Two very underrated keyboardists in my opinion. Going to give this one to Peter because he has more of the symphonic, melodic sound in his playing that I greater prefer rather than the very spontaneous, improvised sound of Michael.

Interesting "battle"!
Both definitely have jazzy leanings, though of course Ratledge is more prominent with it.
As much as I love Peter for his simplistic organ and synth melodies, Ratledge just did some really astonishing keyboard work: Out Bloody Rageous, most of Six and Seven.

Got to give this to Mike Ratledge. Ratledge's keyboard work is unrestrained yet coherent and invigorating. Bardens is a talented keyboard player with an eye for melody, but have never blown me away to the same degree as Ratledge.

Bardens can play a mini moog like noone else and his keyboards are a major reason why Camel's first 4 albums are unmatched by any other band.
Ratledge is also very talented though.

Ther's a common point between the two musicians , they did their best with their own bands,Peter albums are average and Mike didn't produce a lot except maybe a few things with Karl Jenkins but i don't know that much this stuff

Ratledge all the way!!! By far. Peter Bardens was OK.... Ratledge playing was just incredible. Out-Bloody-Rageous, and the opener for "Facelift" anyway he's probably the best keyboard player of the 70s.

Ratledge - for his use of electric piano through Echophlex, organ through a Leslie Cabinet and his ability to play like a classically trained organ scholar or a jazz improvisor as required. Bardens was good, but Ratledge was in a league of his own.
