A bit more on this one:

This band were the subject of a thread started by robbiethebig in the General Music Discussions forum on 13 May 2007, which had 97 views and 4 replies: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=37929. At that time they had only released one album - invitingly titled "The Funeral Album" The response on this site was quite encouraging despite the exceedingly gloomy aspect of the music, and it was even suggested that the band might be suitable for adding in post rock.

So what has happened between then and now?

A Journey Down The Well was founded in 2006 by musicians from Turkey (Taner Torun) and Sweden (Anna Erneman and Martin Bjelfvenstam). In 2010, after releasing two albums (The Funeral Album - 2007 and Sorry Monsters, I Have To Grow – 2009) the Swedish wing left the band, citing the difficulty in traveling between the two countries. Taner Torun (the only founding member remaining in the band as well as the owner of Fluttery Records, the label upon which the band's music is released) has moved the project to his hometown and partnered with Ipek Zeynep Kadioglu (cellist, Mimar Sinan Conservatory & Manchester University School of Music and Drama graduate). The band's third release, an EP called "How Little Can Be The Orchestra" was on October 20th this year.

"A Journey Down The Well is the point where the soul of minimal classical music meet modern forms such as ambient. They are creating extraordinary works, since the band was formed in 2006. A Journey Down The Well is now consist of two people; Taner Torun and Ipek Zeynep Kadioglu.

Although the band thinks none of the genres really fit, their music is commonly tagged as post-rock, ambient, experimental and avant-garde. Due to their orchestrated arrangements with cello, violin, piano they are familiar with minimal and contemporary classical music."

That was a Swedish band with the same name. ;)

This particular band sounds like chamber music mixed with dark ambient, not prog nor rock as far as I am concerned. Loved the kitties though. LOL

They actually were the same band - originally it was composed of two Swedes and a Turk. This formation recorded "The Funeral Album" in 2007 (the subject of the original thread) and "Sorry Monsters, I Have To Grow in 2009". The Swedes (Anna Erneman and Martin Bjelfvenstam) left the band in 2010, and Taner Torun, the surviving Turkish component, joined forces with Ipek Zeynep Kadioglu in order to carry on the project. I somehow managed to omit the link to the old thread in my first post here - I have now edited the post to include it.
