Suicidal Symphonic tendencies and atmosphere with modern sounds. My guess would be Neo. Certain elements of Eclectic too (dark atmosphere)

Their entire (or almost entire) album is here on Myspace:

MYSPACE LINK IGNATIUS

Myspace says unsigned, but they have an album available for sale (digital probably).

Happy hunting

Really enjoyed this one! Neo should accept them with open arms imho!
Album is called "Lights From The Deep", released on Musea, August 2011: http://musearecords.com/boutique/anglais/index.php?ficheprod=1&artiste=IGNATIUS&refp=37710.
Band members: Ricardo Boya: (bass, keyboards and vocals); Toni Castarlenas: (guitars); and Marcelo Ortiz: (drums).
Fine band ideed! (They are already on proggnosis and progressiveworld sites).

The same track recrded live at Boca Nord Civic Centre, Barcelona, Spain - Saturday December 11, 2010.

And a much earlier live performance from 2008 with a different line up (drummer and keyboard player) and playing a track not on the current album.

Apparently they have enough material for a second album.

They also did a 3-track demo EP in 2009:

Fragment - Demo (2009)
1. Lights From the Deep
2. Morning Moon
3. Resurrection

Thanks for your suggestion Marty, and always detailed infos Yammy. Hug

Anyway, a good band indeed, but too heavy and too of mainstream for Neo.
Hour Of The Shipwreck meets Haken ... my impression.
Fitter for Crossover, methinks.

This Ignatius, it's a tricky one. I couldn't make a head or tales of it at first. Crossover is of course possibility and we will try.

Somebody suggested Ignatius to Symphonic, and already replied:

Verified other sites and found:

Proggnosis
Quote
SpainProg - Neo-Prog - GeneralIgnatius  (1)

La Caja de Música is very detailed (I trust this site when talking about latin/Spanish Prog)=:

In other words, Pink Floyd influenced, Neo Prog and Hard Rock with some Heavy Metal sections.

ProgressiveWorld.Net says:

Quote heir music is under the influence of the 70's classic Symphonic/Progressive Rock. The aim is to reproduce the feelling of this period but with a personal "touch": Landscapes with atmospherical synths, agressive and powerfull, sweet harmonies and guitar lines flyng over the music, they build theLights From The Deep album.
Ignatius are: Ricardo Boya: bass, keyboards and vocals; Toni Castarlenas: guitars; and Marcelo Ortiz: drums. Their Influences: Bach, Zappa, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Pink Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson, Rush, Yes, The Haunted, Keith Jarret, Thelonious Monk, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Stravinsky...

Symphonic with those influences??????

I believe this guys identify 70's Prog as symphonic, but to be honest, Ignatius sounds like anything except 70's Prog

Excelent band but ECLECTIC IMHO.

Iván

That's my opinion.

Well neo certainly don't want them: http://progfreak.com/Ignatius-151001.html?path=pa/recent: Lets all cross our fingers, toes, and anything else that we may have to hand, that eclectic will find them a slot.

Honestly David, never thought Neo would accept them, too heavy for them.

The problem is that they have a lot of mainstream Hard Rock and Metal, maybe Xove would be more adequate, but that's not my call.

But at the end I believe they are Eclectic or Crossover, not sure which of the two.

I'm sure one or the other will take them. Marty suggested them in the first place, so that's one 'yes' vote pretty well guaranteed if they end up in Crossover. So many prog bands these days mix their styles around quite a bit, even within the same album, and it's a real headache trying to find the best sub genre for them. I totally agree that they aren't a symphonic band though - so at least I'm making a little bit of progress!! Embarrassed

Indeed Iván, while at least one member of Neo (Keishiro) think of them as Crossover possible candidate, we may take Ignatius. The heaviness worried me as well (not in a bad way, but rather if they will be Neo enough), but some elements in their music hinted me there.

Next stop Eclectic and Crossover then.

Heard them on Progstreaming. Great band.

Reminds me of Djam Karet under Eclectic only less eclectic. More like heavy space rock.

Thanks for bumping EARLYPROG, now I can ask around what state are they in now

being ping-ponged ?
being on a list of evaluation
or perhaps being lost ?

Update please.

I checked out the samples and this band rather makes me think of It Bites; I think Crossover would be suitable.

And they're cleared.

I think I'll ask the Original Poster to make a biography for them.

OK, Marty said he'll do it.
