I'm hoping for Phideaux Riverside final.  Both bands have released three masterpiece albums.

Ermm

Good luck with that. Stern Smile

Yeah Phideaux have no chance against Porcupine Tree if they both make it to the semifinals.

Oh and I voted for Dream Theater. Tool just aren't my cup of tea.

Love both, but TooL it is
I look up, I'm almost blinded

by the warmth of what's inside me

and the taste that's in my soul,

but I'm dead inside as I stand alone...

Tool.

DT was incredible from their debut and up to Six Degrees. After that they ran out of good ideas, imo.

No matter who wins this poll, I will vote for Riverside in their next round.

Anyway:

Recent Music Acquisitions:
Johnny Marr-"The Messenger"
Steven Wilson-"The Raven that Refused to Sing"
Fish-"Sunsets on Empire"
Riverside-"Shrine of New Generation Slaves"

Dream Theater for me though I wish they would try something different instead of the same stuff all the time. I just can't get into Tool.
A GREAT YEAR FOR PROG!!!

I love both bands. 5 years ago I would have said Tool. Now DT get the vote.

I love Tool, They' re the reason why I discovered Porcupine Tree and this forum. And subsequently Phideaux and Riverside.  Very much my cup of tea when it comes to this kind of music.

DT sounds just boring to my ears.

Since I believe Maynard to be a FAR superior vocalist to LaBrie (IMHO), plus with Tool's "heavy psychadelic" music, Tool is a no brainer for me on this one.

I think that Marillion would beat Opeth, but  it would just be a battle of neo-prog fans vs. prog metal fans. Porcupine Tree would certainly beat Opeth. PT seem to appeal somewhat to everyone whereas Opeth's harsh vocals turn off many voters. PT vs. Marillion will be neat to watch.
