Hello,

I think Ash Ra Tempel's "Le berceau de crystal" should considered more as a film soundtrack than a live album:
http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=3585

As far as I understand, only track 1 is a live recording:

re prog samplers

I notice GutBucket isn't listed

I'm sure there's more (and more in my own collection) but haven't specifically looked

Duplication, many bands have an album rearranged or added material after years, can't post them as new stuff

the first line says < prog samplers > a section on the site.

gutbucket was a liberty records sampler in 1969 with a photo of a pig on the front..... featuring creedence clearwater and canned heat amongst others

I was simply saying the prog SAMPLERS list is very good but inevitably missing some... I have lots that I bought in the 60s 70s and later given to me by bands / labels I worked with.

I will also add < pop revolution > around 70 / 72 from germany with english or german label and noted for its multi coloured "psychadelic" vinyl....... plus my favourite version of 59th street bridge song by mike bloomfield and al kooper..... its credited as from an album but actually was a special recording (I remember it well through mary janes haze) I am glad I was there

Is it possible to express your thoughts clearer?

Do you mean " VA: SAMPLERS"? http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2633

Yep, I'm sure there are lots of omissions as it's not seemed a primary focus of the site and any member can add albums, though proper formatting is important. Good luck. I've only added a few albums in Various Artists myself over the years.

By the way, no need to post about missing albums here as any member can add them (this thread has a different purpose, see the initial post of this topic).

Why is this under VA? it is clearly one band only "Mick Pointer Band" NOT VA
if that is the case so Steve Hackett albums "Genesis Revisit" should be also VA and so on...

^ My guess is because there is no artist "Mick Pointer Band" in PA !

VA can carry these orphan cases, not the most elegant solution but better than not including them (my humble opinion)

^^ Guys, I think it's a problem. Obviously it's not VA

In my opinion either Mick Pointer Band should be added on PA or this album should be deleted.

I think we have to ask what admins they think about it.
Because if we'll follow the logic "this band is not on PA, but let's add their tribute album to VA") we have to allow adding to VA/Tributes albums of countless tribute bands.

^ I see your point, and it's a fair one, but on the other side your objection comes after an established fact:
there are in VA a number of inclusions which wouldn't otherwise have  a place here but that have their merit and deserve our tolerant welcoming.Heart HugHeart

^ I can live with this, but strictly speaking Mayer is right.

We're still discussing it, but in my opinion Mick Pointer Band's album fits perfectly the purpose of VA: Tributes section.

That's kinda what I thought the purpose of VA is, and it says it in the biography part:

"This section contains albums which pay tribute to bands, artists or albums listed on the site. The artists who recorded the tracks on these albums may or may not be listed on the site themselves."

It isn't necessary that an album features more than one artist to be in VA.  Sure, this rule might open up some debate as whether albums like Genesis Revisited should stay with Steve Hackett, but otherwise, I'm completely fine with MPB staying where it is.

To be in VA the album needs to feature more than one band (artist) by definition. Smile

If we'd like to see tributes recorded by particular bands not included on PA, why not to add a "Tributes" (without VA) section? It would help to prevent confusions like in case of Mike Pointer Band.

Possible solution. Thumbs Up (Or, accepting George valid argument, leave it as it is and sleep well allthesame)

I think it's better risking to be over-inclusive than throw away interesting works on a bureaucratic argument.

^ Josè, I think it's better to have both - interesting works and a bit of OrdnungWink

Separate "Tribute" section would be very helpful, but it needs M@X to approve and add it.
