We all get old and die, nothing remarkable about that. Even if the "third wave" is not yet dying, it will eventually.
 
The genre is still alive, there's quite a lot of good music being released every year, in fact so much that I can't follow it all up, there are many modern albums which based on what I have read I think I would like them, but I simply do not have the time or money to get them all.
 
Whether the music is being released by the first, second, third or fourth wave, who cares?

I don't know about the "third wave" because I haven't thought of the music in that sense, but I would hope that since the 90s enough new things had happened in music that the torch was still burning strong.

And based on the number of albums in my music collection from last year, which excludes anything by any bands you consider to be third wave but includes still > 60 prog albums, a lot of which were excellent and which was, beside the matter, still just scraping the barrel...

I'd say music, prog included, is alive and well. Whatever wave we are on.

Grails, Phideaux, Yugen, Discipline, Anglagård, Dungen, IQ, Electric Orange, Korekoyinjihn(I´ll never learn to spell that name!) and a heap of other artists are still dishing out interesting music, and the 3rd wave doesn´t really mean anything to me. I consider it more like throwing pebbles in a pond. Look at music as the ripples - ever expanding and multiplying. Like an eternal mosaic if you will. If one ever thinks the music has died or went away, then they are just looking in the wrong places. I´m still finding wonderful music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and from looking at things - the 00s are just as productive and creative - the business side of things just isn´t. You won´t find any of this on a top of the pops radio show, but then again you never could....
