Look on the bright side Dave. I am listening an paying attention to Spock's Beard and I'm looking for new albums to buy (only have V & the light).
But I'm still voting for Porcupine Tree.
Thanks !! Your topics always so good and informative. I like you talk.

I've added my vote to Spock's Beard but it won't get them over the line. This competition looks like becoming a showdown between Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater.

Porker-pine Tree for me. I can't think of many prog bands who've gone through so many stylistic shifts - from neo-psychedelia to spacey-indie-rock to heavy prog and yet have produced great, original, wonderful albums in all those styles.

If the semi comes down to PT vs. Marillion I will have a difficult choice on my hands.

Too many DT haters on this forum for them to even get to the final in my opinion. Looks like PT/Marillion : Riverside/Anekdoten final to me.

Shocked

steamy

yeah PT.

And honestly I think SB's material is just as mainstream as PT, but only much much worse. Not that I'm a big fan of PT. I think seeing SB lose like this make me happier than if they would barely lose vs. TMV.

Have you considered therapy . . . or at least decaf?

. . . and I'm throwing another vote for Porcupine Tree.  I love Spock's Beard, I'm eager to see where they're going after the departure of NdV, but I just can't vote for the Beard over Porcupine Tree.  Porcupine Tree has so many fantastic and varied albums, many of which are among my favorites.  "In Absentia" and "Signify" are both five star albums with "LIghtbulb Sun", "The Incident" and "The Sky Moves Sideways" all easily earning four stars in my book.

I don't have an unnatural obsession with Disney Princesses, I have a fourteen year old daughter and coping mechanisms.

I am kind of bummed that the Beard are getting so slaughtered in this one.  I like both bands quite a bit but I prefer Spock's Beard.  Porcupine Tree has boring albums like Metanoia and Voyage 34 and parts of some of their earlier albums.  I think that they got much better when they left the Pink Floyd space rock behind.

I can't decide. I like both bands a lot without quite loving either.

As for those voting for PT simply because SB beat THe Mars Volta - well what a pathetic approach. "They beat my darlings so I'm going to vote against them out of spite". That's the way a 4 year old thinks.

^Entirely different. They wanted to vote FOR, not against someone. And the majority couldn't vote anyway.

Correct. Anyone who wants to join this site for positive reasons (ie to vote for their favourite prog band) is welcome.

Every post I saw went something along the lines of: ''Spock's Beard best band 4life, TMV sux'. I hardly think that's any better than people revenge voting.

I thought most posts went "I will kill myself if TMV don't win this poll." and "I can't believe Spock's Beard have lasted this long since I have voted against them in every round including the one where they went up against the cast from Glee and the contestants from American Idol".
