So my top two Crossover albums happen to have equal ratings (4.20).

4.20 | 160 ratings EL CIELO
Dredg

4.20 | 103 ratings THE HEMULIC VOLUNTARY BAND
Ritual

Which album do you like better?

I cannot vote here.  My head splodes.

El Cielo of course, one of my favorite albums ever.
I listened to some songs off the Ritual album, it's not my cup o' tea.

I like both but El Cielo always hits me hard emotionally. It's one of my top curl-up-in-bed-and-feel-crappy-for-no-reason albums.

Really?  El Cielo encourages me- makes me feel like I can overcome things.

I have had / do have sleeping issues.  Just a couple weeks ago I asked my wife why she got upset at me about something, and she assured me that hadn't happened.  Upon reflection, I realized I had dreamed it.  Confused

I love the Ritual album, one of my faves from that year. Dredg leave me cold; very alt. rock IMO.

Ritual.

The track "The dangerous journey"  is a great 26 minute epic that I still play on a regular basis.

But I like both Catch Without Arms and The Pariah, The Parrot and the Delusion more than El Cielo....

I still don't understand why I'm in the minority, although El Cielo is a great album.

That has nothing to do with which is better. I don't think Dredg is prog either, but they're still brilliant.

Yes, but the Hemulic Voluntary Band is full on prog glory IMO. One of the best prog albums of the last few years. I wish they would leave the alternative rock acts off this forum

BTW, I didn't mean to single out alternative rock. I listen to some bands. I just don't know why alt. rock bands, classic rock bands and heavy metal bands are on the Progarchives??

They aren't. Dredg are a prog band. El Cielo is a prog album. This has been discussed to death.Dead
Prog doesn't have to mean symphonic prog. That's a very narrow minded understanding of the concept.
If Ritual is so progressive, why do they just rehash the ideas that were done to death 40 years ago, and done better?

I'm so with you on this - I'd probably even listen to Leitmotif more than El Cielo. Having said that I'm going to go and listen to El Cielo now......
