Info from new gibraltar: http://www.gepr.net/ea.html
Around 1975, three guys named Kenn Pierog (Bass), Bill Drobile (Keys) and Greg DiDonato (Drums) got together to form Earthrise. This was an Emerson, Lake and Palmer-style band, with heavy Hammond organ and synths taking the lead roles. In 1977, they recorded an album in a small studio. The studio was using a Tascam 8-track recorder, but the band played mostly live with just a few overdubs on some songs. This was the studio's first "big project", so they hadn't had much experience with recording, and it shows in the "thin" sound of the album, and the questionable drum miking (even for 1977). I think I was told at one point that really badly recorded albums (bands) won't be considered but give a listen and see if it is that bad. Also, there is a improved CD-R version and maybe a second album named "Day Two" from 2008 but it's a bit harder to find info on that one. |

Now checking but their album has released in 1977 ... too "early" for Neo methinks.

Great band!
Check their website, http://earthriseonline.com/
One of the members tells me the first album has been remastered and will be reissued "soon"--though that was almost a year ago. Edited by Todd - December 07 2011 at 17:24 |

I vote YES for Earthrise
Just heard all the tracks and its like ELP, heavy emphasis on Hammond and dynamic symphonic sounds. Quite good for an unknown band, especially the last track.

I believe it's clearly influenced by CAMEL, but better (Camel works as Valium with me).
