Blackwater Park for me, but I didn't do a catalogue raid with them in a long while, so surprises may occur when that happens.

Damnation and not because there are no growly vocals. In fact i'd pick Balckwater Park and Still Life over their new one Heritage. There's just something very special about Damnation that i've never felt with any other album. It has this vibe throughout that is to my ears very surreal. I still remember when it just seemed to click with me as i was driving south to Florida with the family one year and had it playing. The wife was sleeping and the kids were listening to whatever and as i drove through either southern Pennsylvania or it was northern West Virginia.

I'm from northern West Virginia ... do you remember where you were?

Anyway, I voted "Heritage". I can't take the growls long enough to sit through any of the other albums.

I know it was highway 79 and it was before it got too crazy with the hills.

Don't care for most Opeth, but very much enjoy 'Damnation.'

Blackwater Park, even if Ghost Reveries is more mature and consistent. BWP has that certain atmosphere!

What keeps surprising me is people's fascination for Still Life, such an overwrought album, it has many ideas but they forgot to weed out the chaff.

^ I feel that way a bit too, Still Life does have a few low points - hardly terrible but not at the level of say Ghost Reveries, which gets my vote today

Still Life has such a strong opener with The Moor and I absolutely love the track Moonlapse Vertigo, so good. In my opinion of why still life stands apart is the concept, the riffs, the acoustic passages, and most of all Mikael's growls are the most beastly and raw on this one compared to all the other albums.

Blackwater Park, My Arms, Your Hearse, and Still Life tie for first for me. Ghost Reveries and Heritage tie for second. Then it's Damnation, Watershed, Morningrise, Deliverance, Orchid, in that order.

That said, I almost never listen to Orchid, so it could eventually move up my list. And Heritage is still very new, it definitely has the potential to move up as well. Even the stuff that is lower on my list is still stuff I like, I don't think Opeth has anything I don't like.

Watershed is absolutely my favourite record, and
in my opinion Heir Apperant and Hessian Peel are
their best songs overall.

I honestly love all their albums. They are of such consistent quality.

My overall favourite is Heritage. Followed by Damnation. My favourite of their heavy ones is Still Life. The Moor is just awesome.

Deliverance for me.  Master's Apprentices has everything I want from an Opeth song.  Their greatest doom progression for awhile, then the beautiful clean vocal part and back to the doomfest...perfect Evil Smile
