SBB, a legend of Polish music scene, will return with a new album in Spring 2012.  "A new album, new sound - fresh, mature yet spontaneous and full of youthful energy" - that's how Józef Skrzek himself describes yet untitled material.

We asked Józef Skrzek about his impressions soon after concluding the recording session:

"The music is colorful, rich, subtle but also dynamic, and also its sound is definitely diversified in terms of the instruments we used. It's our own view on the present, which shows in SBB's music. The album's defined by a novel approach, very relaxed, with good taste, which allows listeners to experience it in a completely new way. There's a lot of truth about us in that music. We prove that after many years we can still play and our fans can hear a new shade of what we're capable of. As multi-instrumentalists, together with Apostolis Anthimos we complete each other and the album is a result of our mutual artistic understanding. Having listened to what we've recorded I can say with all certainty that it makes for a great experience, it's wonderful music and one listens to it with good taste. If, while working at the studio, we keep discovering something new, this means that we're creative, because we regard copying certain things as quite simply boring. A new album, new sound - fresh, mature yet spontaneous and full of youthful energy. The music's totally disconnected from this civilization's chase after the commercial - it's true art. Having finished the recording session, I'm under the impression that we could have just kept working and working..."

The artists' own impressions make us all the more anxious to hear the new album! The release date is set for Spring 2012! Full details to be announced soon. SBB's latest album to date is "Blue Trance" released by Metal Mind Productions in 2010.

SBB, a legendary progressive rock band from Poland, will return with a brand new studio album in March. The album, simply entitled “SBB” will include „a new sound - fresh, mature yet spontaneous and full of youthful energy".

Józef Skrzek explains the title: “The album's title refers to the band whose existence on the music scene can be divided into history and contemporaneity. SBB does not exploit its past achievements - we're creative artists and we're an inexhaustible source of new sounds. We understand the present music market, we follow its course, but we also retain our identity and remain recognizable as SBB. There were many musicians that were part of SBB's line-up at one point or another but the core of the band is Skrzek and Anthimos - two multi-instrumentalists - and it's in this line-up that we worked at the studio this time around. Hence the album's title: ‘SBB’. As it comes to the song titles, each of them will refer to significant events or circumstances in the band's history, but also to various people that played an important role in SBB's life.”

The forthcoming album will be released in March in Europe (in May in USA). Full details to be announced soon. SBB's latest album to date is "Blue Trance" released by Metal Mind Productions in 2010.

SBB, a legendary progressive rock band from Poland, return in early April with a brand new studio album simply titled “SBB”. Today the band revealed its cover artwork created by the well-known Polish architect Tomasz Konior.

Józef Skrzek, the leader of the band, recalls the first meeting with Konior: „We had many common things to talk about  - we were talking about Krystian Zimerman, the remodeling of the market place in Katowice and so on. I mentioned that he could work on SBB’s new album cover - Tomasz said he has never done anything like this before, but he took on this challenge... We have the same sensibility on beauty – that’s another common thing. For me, the album cover is extremely important, and Tomasz just hit the mark. This is our first but surely not the last project."

The album will be released by Metal Mind Productions on April, 2nd in Europe and June, 5th in USA (via MVD).  Skrzek describes the new material as „a new sound - fresh, mature yet spontaneous and full of youthful energy".  SBB currently consists of Józef Skrzek and Apostolis "Lakis" Anthimos.

Thumbs Up
"Music is much like f**king, but some composers can't climax and others climax too often, leaving themselves and the listener jaded and spent."
