Topic: Tortoise VS Mogwai Posted: December 13 2011 at 00:20 |
in a way this is battle of the old classic electronica-electic post-rock VS the newer loud-soft rock dynamic stuff......

Tortoise are one of my favourite groups, voted for them. Mogwai are good but I've never been a huge fan.

I prefer Mogwai. I have all of their recordings and enjoy all of them except for "Come on Die Young", which is just okay. I only own two Tortoise albums, and neither one has really grabbed me. Pleasant though. I need to check out more.

Tortoise is one of my favourite bands ever, while Mogwai is the only major post rock band that I can't seem to really like.

Mogwai I guess. I only have TNT and Happy Songs to judge by. Neither is very exciting, good background music but not much more.

I vote Mogwai. I still consider them and Sigur Ros to the best and most unique of their genre (excluding the obvious GYBE).

So far in my post-rock personal discovery, Mogwai. Both excellent ! I agree with the "GY!BE supremacy", as colorofmoney91.

By far Tortoise. I greatly admire Mogwai, but they do tend to get a bit bland at times. Tortoise is much more interesting and provocative. In my opinion, Mogwai hasn't created an album yet that can compete with Millions Now Living or TNT - both masterpieces.
