Formed in 1980, Stencil Forest was centered around the influences of English progressive rock, with a strong melodic feel and song structure. In 2005, the band embarked on an ambitious new project, "The Abyss", released in 2006. True to the genre, the opening and closing pieces, "Lifeline Suite", and "The Abyss", clock in at 11:00, and 24:00, respectively, weaving musical themes together that are found throughout the album. The current lineup, Frank Cassella, Doug Andresen, and Ron Perron, are looking forward to recording a new offering in 2010. Frank has begun writing new music for the project, and with Doug's help, demos are in the early stages.

They remind me a bit of Glass Hammer but I don't know if they're really strong enough for symphonic so crossover might be their thing, or maybe neo.

This is from "Opening Act" 1983.

That's the only sample from the first one that I could find. And this is from the last album "The Abyss".

I rephrased the info above and will add more later

adding band now

Stencil Forest was formed in 1980, with a strong melodic structure and clearly influenced by English progressive rock. After many years together performing live gigs, the band embarked on an ambitious new project in 2005. This project was "The Abyss", an innovative album released in 2006 to some acclaim. Some of the tracks were rather lengthy in true prog rock style, the opening track “Lifeline Suite" with a running time of 11 minutes, and the epic closing track “The Abyss” clocking a mammoth 24 minutes. This closing piece weaves many of the musical ideas peppered throughout the album and works as a type of multi movement suite as heard in traditional classical music.

The current lineup of Stencil Forest is Doug Andresen - Vocals; Frank Cassella - Guitars, Keyboards, Vocals; Jim Cassella - Drums; Rick Cassella - Keyboards; Ron Perron - Bass; Frank writes the music, and Ron records. Frank Cassella, Doug Andresen, and Ron Perron are recording new material in continuation of their musical direction.

The band’s influences are Yes, Kansas, Ambrosia, Genesis, Moody Blues, Beatles, PFM, Happy the Man. Likely to appeal to fans of Ambrosia, Yes, Kansas and ELP.

Cool, I can add the 1983 album as soon as rateyourmusic comes back up again (awareness about SOPA and PIPA). I think they had the info on exact line-up on the old album, track listing I will get from http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/stencilforest .
