I have no idea about a prog one, but I had this jazz band in mind for a long time: Thelonious Monk - piano John Coltrane - tenor and soprano saxes Miles Davis - trumpet Charles Mingus - bass Max Roach (or Art Blakey) - drums With Eric Dolphy as a guest on flute for additional awesomeness. Never gonna happen since all of these musicians have passed away, but one can dream. Even if they were alive though, I highly doubt they would be able to play together. Monk, Miles and Mingus would for sure get in a fight.

I love Brubeck too, but Monk takes the cake for me personally. The high priest of Bop after all. As for Buddy Rich, I'm simply not familiar enough with him (yet).
