SLEEPMAKESWAVES have announced an extensive Australian tour, celebrating the recent success of their debut album ‘...and so we destroyed everything.’

The band’s “(hello) Australia” tour sees them visiting 6 states in February and March, before heading overseas to showcase at SXSW in Austin, Texas and then embarking on a headlining European tour, including co-headlining Belgium’s Dunk! Festival, alongside Pelican, This Will Destroy You and 65daysofstatic.

sleepmakeswaves’ debut album “...and so we destroyed everything” has gone from strength to strength since its release in late 2011 through independent label Bird’s Robe Records. After just 1 week of release, the album was the top selling record on Bandcamp worldwide and remains one of the highest selling Australian releases. The first single from the release, a driving melodic anthem titled ‘(HELLO) CLOUD MOUNTAIN,’ has been receiving airplay on Australian radio including Triple J, FBi, Edge, RTR and RRR and as far afield as the BBC.

ASWDE was named ‘Record of the Week’ by KOOP radio (Texas) and Nowlikephotographs and featured in a diverse number of year-end lists, as well as glowing support from Drum Media, TheMusic.com.au, Sputnik Music and Metal Obsession.

“One of the best albums of the year and certainly the best instrumental album” – Chris Maric, Drum Media

“A band of cinematic proportions” – Fred Bevan, The Silent Ballet

“A really great take on the instrumental rock genre” – Dom Alessio, triple j

“sleepmakeswaves sound like what would happen if Jeff Buckley never sang on his records; full of emotion” – Jonno Seidler, whothehell.net

“more than any instrumental band I have ever listened to, sleepmakeswaves make me feel” – Daniel Roe, rockfreaks.net

sleepmakeswaves head out on their ‘(hello) Australia’ tour in Feb and March 2012. They will be joined by Sydney’s Solkyri (NSW, QLD, VIC only), Brisbane’s Mr Maps (QLD only) and Perth’s Injured Ninja and Apricot Rail (WA only).
