Going to add to this now that I've got mine. It's good. Maybe not very proggy, but I really like it. Melodic and strong, the vocalist is great, music sounds like diverse alternative rock, the prog is definitely there, so it should get into the archives, even if just as Prog Related.

They should get into the archives,at least in PR because all the members except MacPherson are in bands in our database.
And I dig the album, good stuff.

MacPherson sounds great. I'm going to go check out his other stuff, I quite like that sort of heavy alternative rock style.

In my opinion, Casey's vocals are no better or worse than Neal Morse's. In fact, the 2 voices blend well on songs where they're both singing (like in Blue Ocean).

What I really like is the interaction between Steve Morse and Neal Morse they do some incredible melodies and harmonies between the keys and the guitar. I would love to hear more of that in something more proggy but this CD is pretty great.

I can't believe this isn't listed.
All but one member is a prog genius. The songs are melodically proggy. Bu because it isn't symphonic or obscure or because they have a sense of pop to them, they are ruled out? Shame on you Progarchives.com. The Beatles are here. This band should be too.

I don't really count any as a prog genius actually.

Depending on your point of view, Neal Morse could count as a prog genius, but at least four of the five members are either actively involved in the prog community or played a viable role in its development. I think.
Having heard it, however, as far as I'm concerned... it's plenty darn proggy. It's not pop at all. My friends who like pop hated it. Couldn't differentiate between Flying Colors and Dream Theater. It's just mild prog with good choruses and melodies. |

Listening to it now, and it's certainly not pop music, though perhaps that was their aspiration (or inspiration) for some of the tracks. In general though it strikes me as watered down Neal Morse music with a really great guitarist and a lame singer (for my taste, I don't really see what the point was of having him). Not bad, but not something I have any desire to hear again.
