So, I was wandering the site, and I was going to look at these two bands' pages when I thought about comparing them. So, which do you prefer?
I go TFK because I prefer more symphonic Yes-style as opposed to death growls (though I enjoy them, they even inspired me to put some growls in one of my band's songs
). |

Both great bands, but I'm going with the Flower Kings. I much prefer their symphonic prog.

Opeth are wonderful and TFK are incredibly dull, so it's a very easy choice for me.

Opeth are not even just ok........TFK are masters of the epics that keep your interest throughout the 18-20 minutes ........or longer.

Opeth by far. But i like both. I always regard the versatility of a band very high, so in this aspect, Opeth is way better. I love Opeth in all forms, growling or not etc.
But why can´t I vote?!

I'd say The Flower Kings ... I like both, and Opeth is to my mind more creative, but I just can't get into their sound ...

You just need to have over 40 (or 50) posts, can't recall which, and then you'll be able to. Opeth for me too. |

No real surprise from me, I've tried Opeth on a few occasions and I just can't get into them.

Opeth made 5-6 masterpieces but TFK ain't got one IMO I feel that they write long song just for the sake of it. Don't get me wrong, I love to listen to them once in a while but they can't beat The Mighty Opeth

The Flower Kings pretty easily for me since the growls ruin Opeth for me. Damnation and Heritage are both very enjoyable though.

Generalizations... I know both bands as well, and I can think of 2 bands who are more opposite ends of the spectrum. Anyway, I went with TFK, by a slim margin. |
