This suggestion is a direct follow-on from Svetonio's suggestion earlier today for Random Device: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=84257.

He mentioned in that suggestion that Random Device was a solo project of Riccardo Barbiera, who was also the drummer of a Prog Metal band (the link in the post is to an mp3 stream of the track 'The Inner Quest' - by Spheric Universe Experience, who had a few different drummers, but as far as I can tell, Riccardo Barbiera wasn't one of them, but correct me if I'm wrong...)

Well, despite this slight bit of confusion, Riccardo did indeed have a Prog Metal project a while back, called 'Inner Quest' - but this band isn't included in our database...and I think it should be!

Inner Quest was formed in Palermo in 2003 by drummer Riccardo Barbiera, bassist Marcello Butera, guitarist Giuseppe Di Sparti, and Marcello's brother Alberto on keyboards. Inner Quest made their first concert on 31st March 2003, and it was the first and last concert with female singer Marcella Giuffrè fronting the band. Dario Caminita took over on vocals from 2003 to 2005, but the Butera brothers then left, & in January 2006 two of Riccardo's friends, Giuseppe Carrubba (keyboard) and Emanuele Carrubba (bass) replaced them. From then on, Inner Quest became an instrumental metal band influenced by progressive, thrash, power & classical metal.

In February 2008, Inner Quest released their first CD: the “Inner Quest EP”. In April 2009 they released their first album, 'Endless Illusion' on New LM Records. There are some space rock atmospheres and slow tempos within their songs, but the Symphony-X and Dream Theater influence is always present which keeps the listener interested throughout the entire album. The song titles go some way towards explaining the album’s concept without the need of lyrics.

This is the whole album except for track 6 - "The Night" (1:55), so it gives a pretty good representation of the band. The 2008 EP consisted of four songs which are also on the full album, and all four can be heard above.

I sometimes feel Svetonio's suggestions are made by a random device Tongue (some sort of alleatoric-based algorithm).

Hey, we need Svetonio on here! He's like a demon fast bowler in the West Indies cricket team - a fair few deliveries may well go for a 'wide', and he doesn't take a wicket with every ball...but when he does, he usually sends the midddle stump flying clean out of the ground!!!
