Topic: Best genesis lineup Posted: January 25 2012 at 20:25 |
To me, my vote goes easilly to the Banks-Rutherford-Collins-Hackett-Gabriel lineup.

I'm going with Banks, Collins, Rutherford and Hackett as my fave albums other than SEBTP are Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering. I find myself listening to those three albums the most.

They really became a band when Wilson joined, so that's where my vote goes.

You should have thrown in the touring lineups of
Banks-Rutherford-Collins-Stuermer-Thompson and Banks-Rutherford-Collins-Bruford.

Oh go on then, I'll be moderately contraversial and say Banks, Rutherford, Collins, Hackett.
I probably listen to Trick and WAW more than any other Genesis album.
EDIT: Although, Foxtrot is one of the greatest musical works ever recorded ...

Some polls do not yield surprising results.

Well, this poll couldn't really end with another result as there is just now :-) The only one answer for me is Gabriel with Hackett and Collins line-up... it's not surprising

The result of this poll was known since before it was made... I also go for the classic line-up of Gabriel, Collins, Banks, Hackett, Rutherford... though I may be tempted to go with the Collins, Banks, Hackett, Rutherford because I like much more how Collins sings over Gabriel... still, the music created by the classic line-up is so much better (plus, I really miss the flute, simple though it may have been, once Gabriel left).

There is a poll in the making.
People listen more to an album(s) of a group that they acknowledge are not the bands best work. Example, I'll listen to TD's Le Parc or Heartbreaker more than Phaedra. PF's The Final Cut more than Dark Side of the Moon. Genesis TotT, W&W and Three Sides more than Foxtrot...well because they are better!!!

Trick Of The Tail is my favourite album by Genesis so I went with the line up that made that album. Duke could easily be my favourite album but for a small handfull of tracks. The 3 man line up were really flying at that point and then most disappointingly they decided to ditch the prog approach for a commercial one. Shame.
