Minor quibble. If you include Floyd as Psych/ Space you should really choose a Psych/ Space album. neither of you have. This is true for any genre choice. Made In Japan is not proto Prog for example.

Oh boy! I won't fill in every genre though as some I've not really explored so to suggest a best would be pointless.

Canterbury Scene - In The Land of Grey And Pink - Caravan

Experimental/Post Metal - Pass
Heavy Prog - 2066 & Then - Reflections
Indo Prog/Raga - Pass

Neo Prog - Pass
Post/ Math Rock -  Giraffes? Giraffes! - More Skin With Milk Mouth
Prog Folk - Red Queen to Gryphon Three - Gryphon
Prog Electronic - Tangerine Dream - Rubycon
Prog Metal - Pass
Psych Space - Nektar - Recycled
RIO/ Avant - Roxy & Elsewhere - Frank Zappa
RPI - Alphataurus - Alphataurus

Eclectic, Folk and Symphonic I found really tough to choose. Must be my favourite genres.

I know what you mean, but quite frankly I'd be stuck without Animals as I'm not that familier with Psych/Space either.

How long do you spend coming up with a list like this?  I like albums from each category, except Indo/Raga I am not familiar with.  But I really can't come up with a favorite from each.  Or at least I don't want to take the time to make the attempt!  But I am enjoying reading yours, so carry on!!
