I really can't vote for one! So all of the below are top-notch albums!

Blind Dog of St. Dunstans - Caravan (very underrated!)
Remember the Future - Nektar
Strands of the Future - Pulsar
The Whirlwind - Transatlantic
The Yes Album - Yes
Leftoverture - Kansas
K.A. - Magma

If the poll was `Which of these albums SHOULD I buy?' I would have pointed you to all these ones!

I'm glad I pre-emptively guessed these good albums and bought them before you said that!
 
I've noticed that Blast Furnace, Pan and Grizzly Bear aren't on PA so below are some sample tracks for you to judge upon them.

The Tain. It won't win because most won't have heard it, but it's on a different level to anything else on that list.
 
Both that and The Book of Invasions are albums of almost complete perfection by Horslips; both concept albums based on Irish mythology, though the Tain tells an actual story.
 
The Yes, Deep Purple, Transatlantic and Trace albums are all very good, but NOWHERE near the Horslips one.
 
Just play Dearg Doom (the unofficial 2nd Irish national anthem!) over and over and over again until you can't dance any more. It also helps to read the sleeve notes very carefully to get the story in your mind.

I would highly recommend not to buy so many albums in one month.  Then again January isn't up yet, what are you buying today? LOL

Selecting from what I know, I'll go with Kansas.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I went with The Yes Album, but there are some good selections there!  H To He Who Am The Only One is an album I'm slowly starting to appreciate and Remember The Future is another good one.

Pretty cool list there!

Voted for the Semiramis one, since I'm really digging that for the moment. One of those special RPI albums, that really packs a punch. Cool thing about it though is that these guys were teenagers when they recorded it. The eldest were 18, while the guitarist was 16 or something. It shows in the naive expression of the album methinks, but in a wonderful way. I happen to love every moment of it. Back when I was their age, it was punk rock and the grunge sound that bands were aiming for... Couldn't imagine any of my friends being able to pull something like this off.

Furthermore, I love that you got Blast Furnace as well. Being a Dane I've had that specific album for a good number of years, but I never really thought about suggesting them for PA. Could fit in somewhere though...
