Not the band of course.

One contestant auditioned by singing Tom Sawyer, with predictable results:

He looks like a total geek, naturally.

Could this lead to American Prog Idol?

I think Steve Tyler's nervous twitch about 27 seconds in sums it up for me

I think I'd be more impressed if they let him do the two Cygnuses.

I don't watch the show anymore....watched it the first 2 seasons.........One of my kids came downstairs ....."Dad there is some guy singing Tom Sawyer on Idol..."

I said ..."I am sure he is not singing it......" More like a 3yr old rap version of the lyrics..
LOL

Considering the huge probability for epic failure, I think he was ok, another jury (one with proper musicians, for instance) might have given him a chance.

Is it just me or does he sound a lot more like Dennis De Young than Geddy?
Bigger on the inside.

Well, obviously if you're going to do something so obviously destined to fail, you should go with Natural Science or Xanadu or something more daring.  Hopefully, it won't be long before someone tries out by singing some Magma LOL

Since the singer likes Rush and comedy, I think it would have been better if instead of trying to sound like Geddy Lee he had done a Woody Allen impression while singing a Rush song.  "I Think I'm Going Bald" might have been a good song choice if he had gone that route.
