Got the recent remasters of these last year.  (Usually don't do that, but I had to have the original album covers!)
I'm going to say Octopus.

Three Friends by far for me, though I do love Knots and The Advent of Panurge.

Three Friends has so little of the Gentle Giant magic that I find in their other albums. Gotta love the last two tracks though. Octopus, however, is awesome front to back
I'm so mad that you enjoy a certain combination of noises that I don't

Both are great, yes, but Octopus wins this round. One of my favourite albums of all time.

I like both, but I think Three Friends is the greater of these two.

Both are quite good, but I'll give it to Octopus.

Good poll, because it's very difficult to choose.

Even though I think they did some heavier work to create Octopus, I vote for Three Friends. There's something about the album which I really like.

Three Friends for me, not so easy to grasp atmospherically and unique in their own discography.

Octopus is the only GG album that I like from start to finish.

I wouldn't be without either but I give Octopus the edge.
