I have finally started to listen to prog metal. It is pretty darn alright so far.
What do you guys think are the best bands, albums of prog metal?
I have tried to get into Queensryche for a while now because they're from around here and Geoff Tate graduated from my high school. But I just can't get myself to like their music very much.

But anyway please and thank you for recommendations.
Have a nice day!

Iīd recommend some of the technical/progressive metal acts (not extreme) like Psychotic Waltz, Heavenīs Cry, Zero Hour, Spiral Architect, Twisted Into Form, Memento Waltz, Continuo Renacer, Watchtower, Realm and latter day Cynic.

Awesome man, Get into Sikth if you like it heavy!
Both albums:  The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out Wait for Something Wild and
Death of a Dead Day
are great. The vocals can be too much at times however.

Well, this may be a bit unnecessary, but whether you may like them or not, if you want to know prog-metal, you must at least know Dream Theater.

Check out the top names of the genre first. And then move on to sleeperīs list, if you feel like it.
Some recommendations
Devin Townsend - Terria
Dream Theater - Scenes from a memory
Fates Warning - Perfect Symmetry
Ayreon - Into the electric castle.
Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Cynic- Traced in air
Opeth - Still Life

Most of these bands have several good albums, but these are the ones Iīd start with.
Also not that big a name yet, but Myrathīs latest album Tales of the sand is really great.
Their music seems a little bit simple to me, considering itīs prog, but itīs catchy as hell.
Riverside - Second life syndrome
Death - Symbolic
