They wouldn't be in prog metal.

Hey guys! I'd like to recommend some brand new metal! It's actually my own Band's music if you guys don't mind. It's a fat mix of 8-string proggyness rounded up with aggressive synthesizers! Here's links to our websites:

Enjoy fellas! Take care!

Mastodon and Dream Theater are awesome!
I'm not sure about Opeth though, those growls or whatever aren't really my thing but the music is good.

A relatively new band The Arusha Accord with their debut album The Echo Verses.
Seen them supporting Protest the Hero and they blew me away, been into them ever since and their albums class!

Pain of Salvation's Remedy Lane and The Perfect Element PT 1 are among some of the best albums ever released.

Just give it all an hour by the concrete lake.

If you like Dream Theater, you should check out Liquid Tension Experiment as well.

I also recommend Riverside and Fates Warning. My favorite albums from those two are Second Life Syndrome and Disconnected, respectively.

Check out the Century Media's new progressive metal band Oddland. Awesome musicians and really really nice guys. It's a quite unique mixture of Pain of Salvation/Opeth/Katatonia style of metal but there is lot's of this Meshuggah/Tesseract type of polyrytmical drumming and riffs. Dan Swanö mixed and mastered the album which will be out in next April.

Of course you have to check out Dream Theater and Rush. Not far behind is Fates Warning - I'd try Parallels or A Pleasant Shade of Grey for album choices. Seventh Wonder are SOOOO AMAZING!!!!!! Some other bands:
Symphony X
Pain of Salvation
Redemption
Epica
Circus Maximus
A.C.T. (not listed as Prog Metal but def. have metal elements)
Sieges Even
Darkwater

Sooooo many more but I'll stop there as these are my tops.
