Topic: Alias Eye, ACT, Ten Jinn, Izz ... ? Posted: July 09 2005 at 07:04 |
Can anyone who is a fan of these bands recommend other music they also enjoy in a similar style? Each of these bands reminds me of Queen in one way or another - plenty of melody, vocal harmonies, and a real up-beat feel. If there's any other bands out there producing this kind of music, I'd love to hear about them!

ACT gives credit to the band Saga for a bunch of their musical inspiration.
Anathema (mp3 on this site is great) if you don't mind metal being in the mix, which is what ACT does so extremely well.
Blind Guardian although I don't think they're in the archives yet. If you want vocal harmonies and melody, look no further.
Collage - At least download the mp3 provided by this website.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I have a few Saga albums, and although I enjoy them, they're a little too light and fluffy for my taste. Anathema sounds more like my thing, because (as you rightly observe) it's the contrast between heavy and light that ACT does so well, and this is what appeals to me. Much like Queen, they can be camp as hell one minute, then heavy and mean the next.
I'll check out the others, also - thanks again.

Anathema is a great band, like a prog metal/pink floyd hybrid.I would recommend The Silent Enigma and Alternative 4.

I think you misread the original post - this is a specific request for alternative recommendations from fans of the mentioned bands. I already have my own opinion of these bands - and I don't need another one, thanks all the same!
