I have to say I just listened the tracks in the opening post, and I have to congratulate Phideaux for his great music. Doomsday Afternoon is the only album by Phideaux, this one sounds like it's on the same league. On the other hand, I also heard the track listed for Steven Wilson's album, and all I can say is
 . This guy has finally decided to outbore everybody else. It's like he removes the "Porcupine Tree" of his music and it suddenly becomes narcotic in a bad sense (and even his last PT album started to go that way). Where's the SW of the best PT albums (all the ones before The Incident?) Or even of side projects like Blackfield?

Grace For Drowning is a good album, I can see its merits. However, it is such a depressing album, that I have to be in the mood to listen to it (which isn't often), and I feel this brings the album down, in terms of repeat listens. I don't feel that way about any of the PT albums I've heard.

GFD is certainly good, but I wouldn't give it any more than 3.5 (if I'm feeling generous that day). But not worthy of the #1 spot for my ears.

"Sectarian" is one of Steven Wilson's greatest pieces. There are a few other great moments on the album, but over half an hour of it just bores me or disagrees with me.

Kind of the same here for me although I do admit, it hit me pretty hard last listen I had for some reason or another. I can somewhat agree with the list in terms of the truly "prog" music on the website. Otherwise I'd want to see more post-rock or electronic.  |
