I thought Deconstruction would make it to the top 10 for sure, well it came pretty close! The list is not too surprising but imo it is pretty fair and I have no problems with it. Not quite as much love for avant as last year (and avant is my favorite); but then, I think only a few avant bands even made my list this year.

I find it odd that most people here seem to not like the fact that SWilson won again, yet he won by a clear margin and no one who voted for him is celebrating his victory. LOL

Andy, how the hell did you manage to compile this already! The voting only finished yesterday! You've done a great job though. A nice touch adding the samples. Clap

True. His album is very good, nevertheless. Not the best this year has to offer in my opinion, but a great album that is worth every penny investing in acquiring it.

In one sense, it sort of shows lack of initiative on the part of the collabs who voted.  Lack of imagination?  Lack of.....?  Almost as though we just mailed it in.  "Oh well, Steven Wilson released something so I guess it must be number 1."  LOL  I say this, but then I must say that I listened to the album again this morning for the sole purpose of being able to come on here and say why I am unimpressed with this album, and it actually sounded pretty good.  First time it kind of clicked for me a bit.  I still don't think it was the best release of the year, but it seemed a better choice after listening to it this morning.

Fantastic work Andy!!! Have some clappiesClapClap

A tough assignment, but you pulled throughBig smile

Even if Steven Wilson didn't make the cut on my list - it was because I knew he wouldn't need my help to win this. Seems I was right in that assessment. I have no quarrels with Grace For Drowning running away with the top slot, although My Brother the Wind clearly should have won...
Music is of course about the prizes as you all know. Just like everything else in life - it's a competition and it's about winning. Remember people, that you only WIN the gold - the rest is just loosingTongue

Well, there it is. Good job with all the work Andy!

As usual people seem to be upset but it's all personal opinion so what do you want?

Glad to see Heritage at #2Big smile
Another 5 of mine in the top 25 so huzzah for feeling like I have good taste!

Damn, 249 albums. To think on any new year I probably hear like 20Cry
Well thank you Andy and PA for giving some stuff to try!

Yeah, excellent work!  It's a little depressing to me to see just how little new stuff I get to hear every year.  I didn't have enough 2011 albums to even make a top 10 Cry

Havn't even listened to itShocked so can't speak of the actual album but you are right, does seem a bit that way.

In fact I am pretty surprised DT isn't higher since they are the classic (new album out therefore it = good) band. Also surprised that Heritage is so high, guess the likers of the album are just quieter than the haters since that's generally what I heard!

Does anyone know of a soundcloud sample of the Haken or Unexpect albums? I'd like to put one in but I couldn't find one for either album.

I believe that the only media Haken has in the TUBES is their Myspace. Unexpect has a bandcamp:

Yea, I just wanted soundcloud because it's easy to embed. I don't want to use youtube because the flash player is so stinkin large and the sound quality is not always so good. I'll look into embedding bandcamp stuff..

It's deff possible, after all Phideaux has his bandcamp embedded in his website. I just don't know if you can do it in PA.
