Well it's an absolute certainty for one of the Prog Metal sub genres, isn't it. I guess it'll most likely go in Experimental/Post Metal, since it has such close similarities with some of Tool's music, but it also resembles Riverside in places too, so maybe it'll just go in plain old Prog Metal?
Whatever they decide, I can't see this one taking more than a couple of days to clear. Good find again Svetonio!

Indeed, another excellent find.
And you're right David, E/P sounds right for these guys. I'll alert the team.

LOL!! Just shows what I know about Prog Metal!!
Actually they were rather unlucky I feel: SoenStarted off in great style with two 'yes' votes...then Karl upset the apple cart by going the other way, and taking Alexander with him. It was still 3-2 in favour at one point, and some teams would have settled for that and cleared them - but doubts seemed to creep in at the end - and one of the 'yes' votes weakened to an 'unsure', meaning that ultimately they had to be shown the door. Oh well...You win some, you lose some...C'est la vie!!

Re-evaluation is only possible by the same team if new material becomes available - and a unanimous decision in favour would be needed in order to get them approved. There is nothing to stop another team evaluating them based on existing material, but since the only place these guys could go on here is in one of the metal subs, then that is purely academic in this case.
Tool wannabees are sometimes viewed in a dim light on here, and there is no denying that Soen have been heavily influenced by them. Just put "A Perfect Circle" in the search box, with the 'Find Posts' drop down box set to 'Any date', and you'll see what I mean!! Anyway since most of the tubes in the original post have now 'died' - here's the full album...while it lasts!! |

the new Soen stuff is eventually out, what a pleasure, the only sorrow it may cause is for guys who didn't add this band in ProgArchives earlier.I have the whole awesome album,a masterPROGpiece, but there are a few links out there, here's some:
whether adding now,or never

I would imagine that the team will take a fresh look at them now that the new album is out. All the reviews I've seen for it so far are very positive...and they only just missed out here previously...but it would need unanimous approval from the team this time around to get them in.

Yeah - Memories Of Machines would certainly have had my support if I was a member of the Crossover team (who evaluated and rejected them quite firmly back in 2011) - a good few other members posted positive comments about them too - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=82285 - see also http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=77048 and http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=78865. But they haven't released a follow up , so can't be re-visited on this site by the same team (Psych/Space could have a listen I suppose, but one prominent member of that team said that they weren't progressive enough, and that Prog Related was a better solution (last post in the first of the three threads listed here). Proggnosis have them if it's any consolation: http://www.proggnosis.com/ARTIST_DETAIL.aspx?AID=10377, and there was a five star review of the 'Warm Winter' album on another prog site: http://www.seaoftranquility.org/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=10885, but sadly they aren't going to be on this site any time soon I fear.

I think the Post Metal team are angry of Lopez that he left Opeth and formed SOEN
maybe that's the problem! wherever I looked at,Soen's new album was in the list of most anticipated prog stuff of the year, but here some guys don't consider them even post metal I think if MARTIN LOPEZ himself comes here and says hey guys?WE NO PROG?these guys will persuade him that he's not enough prog and he goes nihilist and will commit a suicide

Hehe, I was just recommended to listen to them, and came to PA in order to look for their info and biography, which I see is nonexistent nowadays.
